You 00:00:00
Oops excuse me. Oh 00:00:11
Hello friends. Have you ever wondered where does the food go once it enters your body? 00:00:13
Sorry, well worry no more cuz I'll tell you all about the human digestive system 00:00:20
oops 00:00:28
Come on! What are you waiting for? Zoom in! 00:00:30
Digestion is a simple process where large insoluble food particles.. 00:00:35
..are broken down into smaller water soluble molecules. 00:00:40
So that they can be absorbed by blood and give energy to different parts of our body. 00:00:45
The process of digestion has a few stages and I'll take you through all of them. 00:00:51
Come! 00:00:57
Chewing is the first stage of the digestive system. 00:00:58
When you chew your food, the food particles break down.. 00:01:02
..into little pieces that are easier to swallow. 00:01:06
The saliva which contains a lot of enzymes mixes with those food particles.. 00:01:10
..and helps break down those food particles even more. 00:01:16
Once you have completely chewed your food.. 00:01:20
..the tongue helps to push the food particles down your throat. 00:01:23
This process is called swallowing. 00:01:27
The food travels through a long pipe called esophagus, also known as the food pipe. 00:01:30
When the food particles have travelled through the food pipe.. 00:01:38
..their next destination is the stomach where those particles hang out for approximately 4 hours. 00:01:42
The stomach releases a lot of acids and enzymes which further break down the food particles. 00:01:50
So that these particles can be absorbed by your body. 00:01:56
An enzyme called pepsin present in the stomach helps break down the proteins. 00:02:01
Oh, and a lot of bacteria are killed by our superhero, the stomach. 00:02:07
So that we don't fall sick. 00:02:13
Destination next, the small intestine. 00:02:16
Once the food particles reach the small intestine.. 00:02:20
a lot of juices from the liver and pancreas help break down those particles. 00:02:23
The liver secretes bile which helps break down fats. 00:02:29
And the pancreas releases other enzymes to help digest all kinds of food particles. 00:02:33
Now that the food particles are broken down, 00:02:40
the small intestine absorbs them and transfers them to our body through blood. 00:02:43
The particles that are not absorbed by the small intestine reach the large intestine. 00:02:49
Now the large intestine absorbs water and other particles.. 00:02:56
..and sends the waste material out of your body. 00:03:00
Trivia time! 00:03:04
Did you know that our large intestine produces antibodies that help us boost our immunity? 00:03:07
When your face becomes red due to blushing, the lining of your stomach becomes red too. 00:03:13
So eat healthy, digest healthy and live healthy. 00:03:19
Tune in next time for more fun facts. 00:03:24
This is me zooming out. 00:03:27
