ASSISTANT MILLIE EXPLAINING HOW TO MAKE BRITISH PANCAKES

Descargar la transcripción

This is a tutorial on how to make pancake, the pancake dish. So for our pancakes we're going to 00:00:00
need some flour, plain flour, some milk, any milk will do, some eggs, a little bit of salt 00:00:06
and some butter or some oil for frying. The utensils you're going to need a whisk or an 00:00:21
electric whisk, a bowl, a frying pan, any size will do, the smaller it is the easier it is to flip 00:00:32
our pancakes and a jug for when we combine milk and water later. Firstly we're going to be 00:00:43
measuring our flour using our electric scales and our mixing bowl. I'm doing half of the recipe 00:00:51
because there's only one of me so I'm going to do 60 grams of flour and that will make about 00:00:57
six pancakes. Now with our 60 grams of flour you need one egg so I'm going to crack the egg into 00:01:03
the bowl with the flour now we're going to whisk our egg and flour mixture together beating out 00:01:10
any lumps that we may find with flour don't worry if the egg and flour mixture sticks to the whisk 00:01:18
like this we're going to be adding our water and milk mixture in a second so now we're going to 00:01:26
measure our 100 milliliters of milk into our about 40 milliliters of water to go to water and milk 00:01:32
mixture. Now with our egg and flour mixture we're going to add the milk and water mixture 00:01:39
bit by bit so not all of it at once just a little dash at first just to loosen things up 00:01:48
and we'll whisk. 00:01:56
As it gets thicker, we need to add more of the milk and water mixture, bit by bit, not 00:01:57
too much, but not too little. 00:02:12
Remembering to beat out those flour lumps if you find any. 00:02:20
As it gets thicker, you need to add more of the milk and water mixture. 00:02:27
Bit by bit, not too much, but not too little. 00:02:45
Remembering to beat out those flour lumps, if you find any. 00:02:54
Whisk, whisk, whisk. 00:03:16
Make sure you get all the bits inside as well. 00:03:23
Your mixture should look like this. 00:03:27
If in doubt, think it's too thin, add a bit more flour. 00:03:29
This one I'm going to use oil to show you. 00:03:35
Exactly the same as butter, just spread it the same, make sure it gets to all the corners 00:03:38
so the pancake won't stick, like so. 00:03:46
A ladle pancake, there's the sizzle, make sure you quickly turn it so that all the pancake 00:03:52
It gets to all parts, keeping it on the heat. 00:04:03
So this one I'm going to try and do with a spatula 00:04:09
because I know flipping a pancake is a trick that takes many years to master 00:04:12
and one that I probably haven't quite yet. 00:04:16
I'm sure we'll keep... 00:04:20
It's a little bit stuck. 00:04:22
Push down the heat. Maybe I'll just round a bit. 00:04:24
any of the corners turn over just flip them back this one I probably went a little too 00:04:26
early but I'll flip it back to the other side so you can see the nice golden brown that 00:05:04
we're looking for 00:05:08
I'm gonna do a little bit of move when it moves like that and the bubbles are appearing 00:05:09
we can probably flip it make sure you go high 00:05:15
This is the colour of the pancake that we want to see all over, this nice golden brown colour. 00:05:17
Here's hoping that we can get this one. Perfect! Now traditionally in the UK we have our pancakes 00:05:28
with lemon and sugar, just a little bit of lemon, a little bit of sugar, but today I'd much rather 00:05:38
have maple syrup. So I'm going to put a little maple syrup on mine. Usually I'd have some fruit too. 00:05:44
And then what we usually do is we roll them 00:05:56
like this. 00:06:01
And then we eat them with a knife and fork. Here goes. 00:06:05
pretty good 00:06:07
