Hello, hello! Anji here with a video about the nutrients in food. So let's get started. 00:00:10
Food contains the nutrients we need to live and grow. 00:00:19
Different food contains different nutrients. 00:00:26
The five types of nutrients are carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. 00:00:30
So first we're going to start over here with carbohydrates. 00:00:42
Foods that are carbohydrates are foods like bread, potatoes, cereals, rice, and pasta. 00:00:46
now what about vitamins and minerals fruit and vegetables have vitamins and minerals 00:00:58
oranges have vitamin c carrots have vitamin a and milk has a mineral called calcium 00:01:08
so our fruits and vegetables like oranges they give us lots of vitamins lots of 00:01:18
vitamin C. But milk, even though it's not a fruit or vegetable, it has something super special 00:01:24
called calcium. And calcium makes our bones very strong and healthy. So now let's take a look at 00:01:31
fats. Fats are foods like olive oil, chorizo, nuts, butter, and cheese. 00:01:41
lastly let's take a look at proteins proteins things like meat fish eggs and dairy products 00:01:52
have proteins so dairy products are all the products that have milk for example cheese 00:02:06
butter yogurt all of those things are considered dairy products because they have milk 00:02:13
and lentils and beans also have proteins and they make us very very strong and grow our muscles 00:02:20
all right so here we have our food chart and our food chart tells us exactly how much of each food 00:02:29
we should be eating every day so let's take a look at fruits and vegetables which we have here 00:02:39
So, it says that fruits and vegetables help to keep our bodies healthy. 00:02:47
We should eat these foods every day. 00:03:00
Well, let's see here. 00:03:03
In our fruits and vegetables, we have things like bananas, oranges, berries like strawberries and blackberries. 00:03:06
and then for vegetables things like broccoli spinach and carrots it says we 00:03:15
should eat these foods every day that's really important because it says that 00:03:21
fruits and vegetables help to keep our bodies healthy so if we want to be 00:03:27
healthy we need to be eating these foods every day now let's take a look at 00:03:32
proteins here we have our proteins and it says protein helps us to grow and 00:03:40
keep our bones and muscles healthy drink milk daily eat beans and lentils often 00:03:48
eat red meat occasionally so what does this mean this is saying that proteins 00:03:57
help to keep our muscles and bones very strong and healthy and they also help our muscles and 00:04:07
bones to grow. So whenever we're doing exercise, proteins help us to get big muscles and it says 00:04:14
that we should drink milk daily because remember milk has something called calcium and calcium 00:04:24
also helps us to grow strong. Eat beans and lentils often. So often means maybe three times 00:04:32
a week. We don't have to eat beans and lentils every day, but maybe three times a week so that 00:04:42
we are continuing to grow. And then it says eat red meat occasionally. Red meat are things that 00:04:48
of course are red like steak we should eat steak maybe once or twice a week but other proteins like 00:04:56
chicken fish and our dairy products like cheese eggs and yogurt we can eat those more often 00:05:05
so we need to remember that our proteins are our friends if we want to grow big and strong 00:05:15
so next we're going to look at our carbohydrates okay oops so carbohydrates 00:05:23
it says carbohydrates give us energy you can eat bread pasta and olive oil regularly 00:05:33
but butter and pastries should only be eaten on special occasions well what does this mean 00:05:44
let's fix this here just a little there we go this means that our breads here we have pasta 00:05:55
and also rice all of these things here give us energy but some of them give us better energy 00:06:04
than others. For example, it says you can eat bread and pasta and olive oil regularly, which 00:06:12
means every day, but things like butter and chorizo and pastries that have lots of sugar 00:06:21
should only be eaten on special occasions, maybe once a week, for example, or twice a week, 00:06:29
because sugar, even though it's super yummy, it's not the best for us and we should only eat it 00:06:37
sometimes. But all of these foods in this category give us lots of energy, which is also important to 00:06:44
be healthy. And lastly, it says here, don't forget to drink water and play your favorite sport. 00:06:52
so in the middle here what keeps us all together is water and exercise which is really important 00:07:00
that we have all of these things in our diet and in our lives to be healthy and strong 00:07:07
