Hello, today we celebrate a special day. Today is the 23rd of April. It's Thursday and we are celebrating Book Day. 00:00:02
Today I would like to read to everyone a story in English. The title of the book is Possum Magic. 00:00:10
It's related to animals which are from Australia. That is where I am from. So it's very special to me. I hope you like it. 00:00:17
once upon a time but not very long ago deep in the Australian bush lived two possums 00:00:25
their names were Hush and Grandma Posse. Grandma Posse made bush magic she made wombats blue 00:00:39
and kookaburras pink she made dingoes smile and emus shrink but the best best magic of all 00:00:52
was the magic that made Hush invisible. 00:01:02
What adventures Hush had 00:01:15
because she couldn't be seen, 00:01:17
she could be squashed by koalas. 00:01:20
Because she couldn't be seen, 00:01:24
she could slide down kangaroos. 00:01:29
Because she couldn't be seen, 00:01:37
she was safe from snakes, 00:01:39
which is why Grandma Posse 00:01:42
had made her invisible in the first place. 00:01:44
But one day, quite unexpectedly, Hush said, 00:01:49
Grandma, I want to know what I look like. 00:01:57
Please, could you make me visible again? 00:02:01
Of course I can, said Grandma Posse. 00:02:05
And she began to look through her magic books. 00:02:08
She looked into this book and she looked into that. 00:02:15
There was magic for this thing and magic for that. 00:02:18
Magic for tall and magic for small. 00:02:22
But the magic she was looking for wasn't there at all. 00:02:25
Grandma Posse looked miserable. 00:02:33
Don't worry, Grandma, said Hush. 00:02:36
I don't mind. 00:02:38
But in her heart of hearts, she did. 00:02:40
All night long, Grandma Posse thought and thought. 00:02:47
the next morning just before breakfast she shouted it's something to do with food people food 00:02:50
not possum food but i can't remember what we'll just have to try and find it so later that day 00:02:59
they left the bush where that always been to find what it was that would make hush seen 00:03:07
They ate anzac biscuits in Adelaide, mornay and minties in Melbourne, steak and salad in Sydney, and pumpkin scones in Brisbane. 00:03:15
Hush remained invisible. 00:03:29
Don't lose heart, said Grandma Posse. Let's see what we can find in Darwin. 00:03:31
Those are cities in Australia. 00:03:38
It was there in the far north of Australia that they found a Vegemite sandwich. 00:03:40
Grandma Posse crossed her claws and crossed her feet. 00:03:48
Hush, breathe, breathe deeply and began to eat. 00:03:52
A tail, a tail, shouted both possums at once. 00:03:57
For there it was, a brand new visible tail. 00:04:02
Hush, possum, is starting to appear. 00:04:08
we can start to see him later on a beach in perth they ate a piece of pavlova hush legs appeared 00:04:11
so did her body you looked wonderful you precious possum said grandma poss next stop tasmania and 00:04:22
over the sea they went in hobart late one night in the kitchens of the casino they saw a lamington 00:04:31
on a plate. Hush closed her eyes and nibbled. Grandma Posse held her breath and waited. 00:04:42
It's worked, it's worked, she cried and she was right. Hush could be seen from head to tail. 00:04:49
Grandma Posse hugged Hush and they both danced. Here we go round the lamington plate till early 00:04:58
in the morning. Lamingtons are food that we find in Australia. It's like a sponge cake made of 00:05:07
chocolate and cream. It's very nice. From that time over ward Hush was visible but once a year 00:05:13
on her birthday she and Grandma Posse ate a vegetable sandwich, a piece of pavlova and half 00:05:22
of a lamington just to make sure that Hush stayed visible forever and she did and this is Australia. 00:05:29
And possums are animals that you only find in Australia. 00:05:40
This is Hush Possum. 00:05:45
I hope you enjoyed it. I enjoyed reading it to you. 00:05:48
Have a nice day. 00:05:52
