Proyecto de la clase 5° A para mejorar la seguridad alimentaria en nuestro entorno. este proyecto está enmarcado en el programa Global Scholars que desarrollamos en el colegio en 5° y 6° de Primaria.

Dear global scholars, we are the students in year 5A at Ciudad de Colombia in Tres Cantos. 00:00:00

The local food issue our class decided to address is food waste because most people of the survey think that food waste is an important issue in our community. 00:00:07

Our community action goal is to raise awareness about food waste in our school and try to reduce it. 00:00:17

The action we took were to do presentations about food waste in Spanish and English for the children in the school canteen and tell them about the waste. 00:00:24

Also, we were very interested in helping our school to be more sustainable, so we decided to plant our own vegetables for the school's orchard. 00:00:39

Our goal is to make use of food waste because many people that participate in our survey 00:00:49

posted that food waste was the most important issue. 00:01:17

Our group is in charge of doing a presentation for you and also for our school website. 00:01:22

First, we decorate a yogurt cup. 00:01:34

Then we put soy in it, squeeze it and pour water. 00:01:43

After that you put more soy in it then you make a hole in the middle. 00:01:48

And now you put seeds in a hole and just wait. 00:01:55

Remember to water it every day. 00:02:01

Hello, we are going to talk about some special scarecrowns that we did. 00:02:05

We did two types, some little scarecrowns for our plants and some big ones for the big garden. 00:02:13

The materials we used were cardboard, a skewer, straw, googly eyes, tape and glue. 00:02:20

Cut and fold the cardboard into a small rectangle. 00:02:28

Stop a hole in the center of the cardboard and place the skewer through the hole. 00:02:32

Stick a straw through the cardboard to make arms. 00:02:38

Use tape and glue to secure the straw. 00:02:41

Trace a face and a hat onto the cardboard and cut them out. 00:02:46

Stick the hat and two googly eyes onto the face with the hat onto the top of the skewer. 00:02:52

Decorate your scarecrow as you like. 00:02:59

One challenge we face making the vegetable patch is that in summer in Spain we have a lot of hot and we need to water the plants more time than in winter. 00:03:15

Sculptron. Another challenge we found in this patch is the collection of materials to do it. 00:03:33

To do it we need plastic bottles and other items made of plastic. 00:03:39

Our challenge is to make sure the children in our school know the importance of reducing waste. 00:03:46

We think that people in school will throw their food away and we aim to make our school 00:04:06

more aware of the problem of food waste so they take actions to reduce food waste. 00:04:16

We have learned in total that there are people that need a lot of food, so that now we have to be careful not to waste food. 00:04:48
