When the Sun warms the water on the Earth's surface, it evaporates converting itself into water vapor or steam. 00:00:00
It begins a journey flying into the sky up towards the atmosphere. 00:00:11
This stage of the journey is known as evaporation. 00:00:17
When water converts in vapor, it races towards the atmosphere, then falls down transforming itself into clouds. 00:00:30
This second stage is known as condensation. 00:00:39
The clouds continue the journey by being blown by the wind, traveling from one place to another. 00:00:43
Clouds are little drops of water suspended in the air. 00:00:51
But when the clouds grow, they collect more and more water. 00:01:02
These little drops then crash into each other and become bigger drops of water. 00:01:06
Then, at some point, they will end up falling to the ground in the form of rain or even snow. 00:01:12
This stage of the water cycle is called precipitation. 00:01:20
The water that falls may land in rivers or even on the ground to then seep through to subterranean caves of water. 00:01:25
All this water must continue its journey until it reaches the sea. 00:01:35
Then, all the process will begin again. 00:01:41
Evaporation, condensation, precipitation. 00:01:45
That is why it is called the water cycle. 00:01:48
