Hi! Today we are talking about ecosystem. An ecosystem consists of all the organisms living 00:00:02
in one place plus the physical environment they live in and the interrelationships between them 00:00:07
too. They may come in all shapes and sizes. They can be as big as an ocean or as small as a fish 00:00:13
tank. So ecosystems are located in a physical environment which consists of all the non-living 00:00:21
components in an ecosystem. It includes non-living things, such as water, air or rocks, and factors 00:00:27
that affect living things, which can be light or temperature. There are two types of physical 00:00:38
environments. First ones are terrestrial, which are the ones found on land and surrounded 00:00:50
by air, such as forests or deserts, and the other ones are the aquatic ones, fresh water 00:00:55
like rivers and salt water like oceans. 00:01:01
Next thing are living things, which are all the animals, plants, fungi, algae and bacteria 00:01:05
in an ecosystem. 00:01:10
Every ecosystem has its fauna, which are all the animals in one ecosystem, and its flora, 00:01:12
which are all the plants. 00:01:18
They are grouped into species, like rabbits, horses, oak trees. 00:01:20
Only members of the same species can reproduce successfully. 00:01:28
All the organisms in one species form a population. 00:01:32
All the populations in one ecosystem form a community. 00:01:36
All the communities and living things on the earth make the biosphere. 00:01:41
Now we are going deeper into terrestrial ecosystems which, as we said, are located on land and 00:01:46
surrounded by air. 00:01:54
First type are forests, which have many, many trees, which provide shelter and food for 00:01:56
various animals, like foxes, rabbits, owls. 00:02:02
Depending on their climate, there are two types, Atlantic, which are the ones with a 00:02:07
humid climate and cold summers and mediterranean which are the ones with a dry climate and 00:02:12
warm summers. 00:02:19
Modern grasslands who are formed by herbaceous plants that grow in fertile soil usually used 00:02:20
for pastures they grow in humid regions with really cold winters they are home for animals 00:02:27
like ladybirds, butterflies or deer. Last ones are deserts and steppes, which are really dry regions 00:02:35
with extreme temperatures, for cold and hot temperatures, and living things there are adapted 00:02:44
to really severe conditions. Some of the animals there include hares, mice and lizards. Last but not 00:02:52
list we've got aquatic ecosystems which depending on their salinity can be located in first water 00:03:00
or salt water environments marine ecosystems are the ones with really high salinity their 00:03:06
water is in constant movements due to the waves and currents there we've got three types 00:03:13
sandy beaches which are the ones affected by tides and waves and home for seagulls for example 00:03:20
Number two, rocky shores, which are the ones with shallow areas with sunlight. 00:03:26
And last, the open sea, which are the ones in deep sea far from the coast, where sunlight 00:03:34
reaches depths of 100 meters. 00:03:41
Then we've got freshwater ecosystems, which are the ones with really low salinity. 00:03:45
water may or may not be in constant movement and there are also two types, first ones are 00:03:50
rivers which have cold water that is always moving really fast and second ones are lagoons 00:03:58
which are the ones where water barely moves and vegetation provides shelter for all the animals 00:04:07
there. 00:04:14
