Hello again. This is a short presentation about the second part of the grammar in Unit 8. 00:00:00
How do we form questions in the passive? 00:00:06
Ok, it's very easy. Pay attention. 00:00:09
So, to ask questions in the passive we need two. Pay attention. 00:00:13
First, we need an interrogative pronoun. 00:00:17
What, where, who, remember, when, why. 00:00:21
Interrogative pronouns. 00:00:25
Secondly, the verb to be. 00:00:27
Then we need the object or objects, depending if it's singular or plural. 00:00:31
And finally, we need the verb in the past participle. 00:00:37
For example, look at this question. 00:00:42
Where are robots made? 00:00:44
¿Dónde son hechos los robots? 00:00:48
Robots, or they, are made in Japan. 00:00:52
Los robots son hechos en Japón. 00:00:55
Ok, let's see another example. 00:01:02
who is the book read by? Look at the picture. The book is read by the grandfather. El libro es leído 00:01:03
por el abuelo. Who is the book read by? ¿Por quién es leído el libro? Remember the other. 00:01:12
The interrogative pronoun who, the verb to be, is. The book is the object read, 00:01:18
the past participle, by, por, quien 00:01:25
Let's see another example 00:01:29
What is cooked in the kitchen? 00:01:31
Look at the picture 00:01:36
What is cooked in the kitchen? 00:01:36
¿Qué es cocinado en la cocina? 00:01:39
Look at the picture, what? 00:01:43
Paella 00:01:45
Paella is cooked in the kitchen 00:01:45
Paella es cocinada en la cocina 00:01:48
What is cooked? 00:01:51
Let's go back to the questions 00:01:53
remember interrogative pronoun in this case what the verb to be is or are if 00:01:54
it's plural cooked is the past participle of the verb in in the kitchen 00:02:02
we can add more complements okay and finally remember something important 00:02:08
don't forget we need to change the verb to be in singular or plural form when do 00:02:16
use singular we use is with singular and uncountable things or objects by yes cooked in 00:02:23
the kitchen we use are with plural things or objects robots are made in japan this is very 00:02:30
important don't forget okay so all these explanations are on your pupils book on page 86 00:02:37
so pay attention to the grammar box where everything about the questions in the passive form 00:02:45
is explained and go back to this presentation whenever you need okay thank you for listening bye 00:02:52
