Hello, this is a short presentation about the first conditional, las oraciones condicionales. 00:00:00
We have three types of conditional and we're going to learn the first one. 00:00:07
Oraciones condicionales, first of all, I want you to remember that in Spanish we use the particle si. 00:00:13
Si llueve, cogeré un paraguas. 00:00:19
Si hace frío, me pondré un abrigo. 00:00:23
So that's the conditional and it's called the first conditional in English. 00:00:26
We use the first conditional to talk about actions and situations that are possible to happen and its possible result. 00:00:29
Situaciones probables y su posible resultado. 00:00:37
How is it formed? 00:00:40
It's formed by two sentences. 00:00:42
Hay dos oraciones que forman una oración condicional completa. 00:00:45
First sentence. 00:00:49
Condition or possible situation. 00:00:50
Esa condición o posible situación. 00:00:52
And there we put the particle if. 00:00:54
It's the equivalent of si in Spanish. If plus present simple. If it rains tomorrow, that's the first sentence, and then we join it with the second sentence, which is the possible result. 00:00:57
El posible resultado o consecuencia de esa condición que puede o no que ocurra. And the first conditional is formed with the particle will, because it is formed in the future. 00:01:13
I will take my umbrella. 00:01:27
So, if it rains tomorrow, I will take my umbrella. 00:01:29
Si llueve mañana, cogeré mi paraguas. 00:01:33
Ok, more examples, very important. 00:01:39
The first or second part of the sentence can be negative. 00:01:40
Cualquiera de las dos partes de la oración condicional completa puede aparecer en negativa. 00:01:43
¿Qué tenemos que tener en cuenta? 00:01:47
Pay attention. 00:01:50
As we said, if is followed by a verb in present simple, in the first conditional. 00:01:51
El presente simple, recordamos que para ponerlo en negativa necesitamos don't o doesn't. 00:01:59
So, look at this example. 00:02:05
If you don't study enough, you will fail your tests. 00:02:07
Si no estudias suficiente, suspenderás tus exámenes. 00:02:11
If you don't study. 00:02:14
Si fuese una tercera persona, por ejemplo, ella, if she doesn't study enough, she will fail her exams. 00:02:15
¿Vale? Recordamos la negativa del presente simple. 00:02:26
Or, it could be the second part, it could be the part in the future, the negative sentence. 00:02:29
If he eats too many sweets, he won't have healthy teeth. 00:02:35
Si él come demasiados dulces, no tendrá dientes sanos. 00:02:39
And remember, again, if it's present simple, if it's third person singular, if he eats, recordamos la S que añadimos a he, she or it. 00:02:43
Perfect. I hope this short presentation helps you understand all to do with the first conditional we're going to learn in Unit 9. 00:02:59
but remember that doing the exercises 00:03:08
the activity book 00:03:12
you will really understand it 00:03:13
thank you for listening 00:03:15
bye 00:03:16
