Hello everyone! We are going to continue learning about electricity and inventions. 00:00:00
In this video, we will cover electric currents, materials, and electricity and magnetism. Let's 00:00:10
begin. An electric current is the flow of electrons between atoms. Electric 00:00:26
currents are the movement of an electric charge. Electric currents need energy. 00:00:46
Energy comes from a power source. 00:00:57
The power source can be a battery or an electrical generator. 00:01:01
Materials. 00:01:14
Some types of matter have electrons that move easily from one atom to another. 00:01:17
They are called electrical conductors. 00:01:27
Metals are electrical conductors. For this reason, wires are made of metal. 00:01:32
Wires need to allow electrons to move easily between atoms. 00:01:48
Metals are electrical conductors, so they are able to do this. 00:01:55
Materials can be conductors or insulators. 00:02:04
Conductors allow electric current to pass through them. 00:02:13
Metals like iron, silver, aluminum, and copper are conductors. 00:02:21
Insulators do not allow electric current to pass through them. Wood, rubber, and plastic 00:02:32
are insulators. Electricity and magnetism. When electric current flows through wires, 00:02:46
a magnetic field is produced. This happens because negatively charged electrons are 00:03:07
moving through the wire. Negatively charged electrons are moving through the wire. 00:03:20
On the photo on the right, you can see a wire. The magnetic field is stronger 00:03:32
if we put the wire into a coil around an object made of iron. This forms an electromagnet. 00:03:46
In the photo on the right, you can see a simple electromagnet. The wire is coiled 00:04:03
around an iron nail. Okay, that is all for now. Until next time, goodbye! 00:04:11
