The materials are stones, two transparent trays, beach sand, air, clay and water.

An aquifer is a natural subterranean space where water is stored.

We have two trays. In the first we are going to create a clay floor and in the second we are going to make a sandy soil.

First we put the stones again in the other tray. Then we put a cap of beach sand until we cover completely the stones.

We put a cap of smaller stones and finally we put the earth.

We drop water on the top of each of them.

After two hours the water has filtered.

As we can see, the water has filtered in the two trees, but it filters better in the sandy soil, because the water goes down faster.

The question we proposed was, with what type of soil does water filters best?

And the provisional answer to this question or hypothesis is, it filters better with the sandy soil, and as we proved, we were right.
