Welcome to grammar videos, where we'll learn a little bit more about verbs and their functions. 00:00:00
Today, we're going to explore ING verbs. I'm sure you've heard of some before, like running or talking. 00:00:17
We're going to look at verbs in their root form and see what we have to do to add the ING at the end. 00:00:25
At the end of each verb section, we'll also look at the sentences these verbs can be used in. 00:00:30
These following verbs are the roots we'll be working with. 00:00:36
Cry, clean, dance, bake, draw, dive, hit, sleep, cut, make, sit, sing, run, smile, drive, jump, ride, throw, swim, and get. 00:00:40
Now that we know what verbs we'll be using, we need to know how these verb roots can change when becoming an ING verb. 00:00:55
They can either not change at all, drop an E and then add ING, or double their consonant and add ING. 00:01:02
Let's take a look at the verbs that do not change when you add the ING at the end. 00:01:14

Now, let's look at an example sentence and see if we can find the verbs. 00:03:28
My baby brother is crying while I'm drawing, so I'm throwing the drawing away and sleeping 00:03:36

Now, when we're changing a verb to the ing form, sometimes we have to change the root 00:04:00
of the word so it sounds correct. 00:04:05
You can do this by dropping the e or by doubling a consonant at the end of the root. 00:04:07
Let's look at some examples of verbs that need to drop an e and add the ing. 00:04:12

now we're going to look at an example sentence to see if we can find the verbs 00:06:29
where they dropped the e and added the ing i don't like baking very much but dancing and 00:06:32
making up routines is one of my favorite things to do. Could you find the verbs where we dropped 00:06:39
the e and added the ing? Great job finding those verbs! Now let's take a look at words that need 00:06:45
to add another consonant before they can add the ing. A consonant is usually found at the end of 00:07:00
the root of the word you double that and add ing sitting sitting sitting s-i-t-t-i-n-g sitting 00:07:06
