So we are going to see the territories that Spain and Portugal explored and conquered 00:00:05
between the 15th and 16th centuries. 00:00:11
So in orange we see the territories that Spain conquered, apart from the territories of the Empire. 00:00:16
They conquered the Canary Islands in the 15th century and another part at the end of the 15th century. 00:00:26
And then, after the first trip of Cristobal Columbus, 00:00:33
they conquered the center of America and South America, 00:00:38
exploring mainly from the Pacific coast 00:00:43
and the islands over in the Philippines 00:00:46
and other islands in the Pacific Ocean 00:00:49
after the trip of . 00:00:52
And the Portuguese territories, 00:00:57
they conquered the Azores and Madeira Islands 00:00:59
and also the territory around the Cape Verde and the islands, 00:01:03
the Gulf of Guinea and both coasts of Africa. 00:01:08
And until they arrived, they rounded the Cape of Good Hope 00:01:14
and they arrived at the end of 15th century to India, 00:01:19
from India to territories of what is now Indonesia 00:01:22
and Malaysia. 00:01:26
and after the first trip of Christopher Columbus 00:01:30
with the Treaty of Tordesillas, 00:01:34
Portugal explored the coast of what is now Brazil. 00:01:38
