here we are going to look at a fast simple and yet fairly accurate way of drawing parallel line

for that we have been given this line AB over here and an external point P through which a

line parallel to AB is to be drawn and we are supposed to use only these two set squares for

that purpose we start by moving our first set square and keeping it in contact with the line

then I will rotate it so that its edge here will align exactly with line AB

then I am going to move the second set square so that its edge makes a firm

line contact along with the first one then holding this set square firmly on

the paper I am going to move this other one still retaining the line contact all

along if required you should hold on to this and move the other one still retaining the line

contact so you would realize that we are moving this set square towards p without ever tilting it

so we are retaining what is called as its orientation and why is that orientation important

because this edge here was once aligned along AB. So, we are sort of taking that AB or the

direction of that AB and we are moving it towards P. We will keep doing that till we reach point P

here and once we are there, we are ready to draw the line. And now you can see that we have a line

through P which is parallel to AB as required. This simple construction will be using very often
