Hello, it is Elizabeth, and today we will be talking about everyday language, but more 00:00:00
specifically, we are going to be talking about arranging to meet. 00:00:07
Alrighty, so your book gives you this example, which I'm going to tell you about, and then 00:00:13
we're going to talk about making our own examples to practice. 00:00:19
So, do you want to come to the skate park? 00:00:23
I'm sorry, I can't. 00:00:29
I have to do my homework. Hmm. I would like to come, but I've got a guitar lesson. 00:00:31
Hmm. What about Sunday afternoon? I'm free then. I'm free too. So this is a conversation. 00:00:40
So there's two people talking. So someone is asking and someone is answering. 00:00:52
all right so first let's just talk a little bit about what arranging to meet even means 00:00:58
so what does that mean so if you're arranging to meet it means that you are making plans with 00:01:07
someone asking them to join you at a certain time or a certain place for or maybe for a certain 00:01:14
activity. And that means the answer can be yes or no. But in conversational English, usually we 00:01:23
don't just say yes or no. We say why, or we make plans for a different time. And that is the 00:01:33
arranging part. We are arranging to meet. All righty. So this uses everyday language that is 00:01:42
super easy to practice at home. 00:01:51
For example, you can practice with your family 00:01:54
and you can say, do you want to come to the kitchen? 00:01:57
And they can say, no, I can't, I have to do the laundry. 00:02:03
Or would you like to meet me in the living room? 00:02:08
And they might answer, yes, I would love to. 00:02:14
Maybe we can watch a movie. 00:02:18
or you can also write a story 00:02:21
and the characters can be having a conversation 00:02:25
where they arrange to meet. 00:02:29
So there's many different ways you can practice this. 00:02:31
All right, have fun with it 00:02:35
and I will see you in my next video. 00:02:36
Thank you, bye-bye. 00:02:39
