Plastic Not So Fantastic is the content and activities block of the English assignment that is part of the STEM project that you are carrying out from various areas.

Unit 4, Going Green, will be your starting point in the English component of the school's STEM project with Sound of ESO, Plastics and the Environment.

The aim of this authentic experience is threefold.

Firstly, to achieve basic scientific literacy skills, learn to tackle topics that aren't too

broad, research, then process and communicate information found. So you will learn how to

effectively search the web, seek multiple credible sources and attribute the information found,

so avoid plagiarising by cutting and pasting. You will also learn to conduct interviews.

Secondly, you will integrate clear and cross-curricular material in the English class,

so the project also complements the types of science you learn at school by getting you to

answer questions of public interest. And thirdly it will raise awareness of current issues that

affect us all. How we will do this? Well you will become a science journalist and by working in

groups of four or five students who will ask a question of current interest, research the topic

using multiple credible sources and then communicate the information in a way that can't

be understood by a broad audience.

you will create an informative sheet that we will distribute in the center and an oral presentation
