Fashion is an important part of many people's lives and it's very hard to ignore because it's 00:00:05
all around us. We see fashion in shops, on billboards, on TV and on the internet. We're 00:00:15
constantly encouraged to buy new things. Social media provides a platform for fashion influencers, 00:00:22
people who post images and blogs that might persuade their followers to buy particular 00:00:31
products i'm meeting pip jolly who posts on instagram about fashion and home interiors 00:00:35
i post about myself vintage fashion nail art my dog my house hairstyles all kinds of stuff really 00:00:44
so what does being an influencer mean being an influencer is essentially influencing someone 00:00:55
to buy something so we are all influencers really just at different levels so i'll post something 00:01:03
and the idea is that i'll influence you to buy it so what kind of things do you post 00:01:09
mainly post photographs like pictures of myself and then i'll do some videos and ig tvs hair 00:01:17
tutorials all kinds of things like that why do you do it i just love it i love sharing the things 00:01:24
that I'm doing with other people. I'm quite an outgoing person. I think it's just a great way 00:01:32
to connect and meet other people and I love teaching people how to do stuff and that I've 00:01:37
learned how to do. Yeah, just basically sharing things that I found I want to share it with other 00:01:44
people. Do you think fashion is important to people's lives? Yes, I think fashion is really 00:01:49
important. I think it can really help you find an identity, it can really help you express 00:01:57
how you're feeling, it can make you feel really confident. I think it can just transform who 00:02:05
you are depending on how you dress. 00:02:11
Do you think people buy too many clothes? 00:02:14
Yeah, I think people definitely consume too many clothes. We live in a world where everyone 00:02:16
thinks that they need to wear a different outfit for every day of the week or every different 00:02:24
Instagram post for a different event and the lifespan of these outfits is just once whereas 00:02:30
if we really think about what we're buying and what we're doing we can style things in different 00:02:36
ways you can create different outfits like from the same piece of clothing and I think Instagram 00:02:42
is really great for that because you can look at other people for inspiration of how to do that 00:02:47
And I think that people can buy second-hand clothes and vintage clothes instead of just consuming fashion in this way, you know? 00:02:53
So do you think people should only buy second-hand? 00:03:02
No, I don't think that people should only buy second-hand. 00:03:05
I'd like to say yes, I think they should, but I know that that isn't obtainable for everyone. 00:03:08
Vintage clothing can be really expensive. 00:03:15
It also sometimes isn't very size-inclusive. 00:03:17
But I think if we're more mindful about what we're buying, 00:03:20
the high street sometimes has really the ethical brands. 00:03:23
You can buy from small, sustainable brands 00:03:26
that only produce small runs of clothing. 00:03:29

that you can be more responsible in the way that you shop. 00:03:35
In what ways do you feel that you're supporting the fashion industry? 00:03:38
I think I'm supporting the fashion industry 00:03:42
by using my platform to educate people 00:03:44
on how to shop responsibly and be more ethical really think about what you're 00:03:47
buying and by promoting these smaller brands it's supporting a different kind 00:03:53
of fashion industry you know not the mainstream but I think that's really 00:03:58
important so if you're promoting a brand on your Instagram page does the brand 00:04:01
pay you to do that yeah normally it depends it can work two ways so 00:04:06
sometimes I will buy a product and then I will promote it and in which case the 00:04:12
brand won't pay me and but sometimes brands do come to me and ask me to 00:04:18
promote a certain item what kind of feedback do you get from the people who 00:04:24
follow you normally quite positive feedback that people give me I think 00:04:28
everyone knows that I will only promote something that I truly love I would 00:04:32
never try and sell you something you know that I wouldn't wear myself or buy 00:04:38
myself so a lot of the feedback that I get is really positive and everyone kind 00:04:43
of like really loves my style and what I do so it's all good amazing thank you so 00:04:48
