My Experiece 2
The first question I would like to answer is, in what way do I find my position useful?
00:00:04
Well, I find it extremely useful because I think it's very important for the children to have direct contact with native speakers.
00:00:10
Because even though the teachers speak very good English, it's not the same.
00:00:19
as well. We use more slang or maybe not the academic English so much as the teachers do.
00:00:24
So that's very useful and basically to practice oral English is very important because the
00:00:35
system of learning English in Spain is based on grammar and vocabulary and it's very important
00:00:44
to be able to talk and what I try to do is play games to motivate them to make English
00:00:51
fun. So it's not like learning another subject that you have to study and try to make it
00:00:59
fun basically. Another question I would like to answer is what are the relevant resources
00:01:05
I find in the classroom? Well, basically I think there are a lot of resources but the
00:01:13
The most useful one is the digital board where I can use the computer and find videos, music
00:01:20
that motivates them, make them dance, especially with the little ones, there's lots of action
00:01:29
videos they love.
00:01:33
So basically they're just dancing and playing but at the same time they're singing along
00:01:35
in English and they're listening to English and for the older ones I've been looking for
00:01:38
material and I found these great videos of, for example, learning simple past tense through
00:01:44
movies. So they have little clips of movies with the subtitles in English and they have
00:01:52
to listen to it and read it and then translate it. And then the same clips but with no subtitles
00:01:58
so they have to remember what they translated and as well listen very good. And those kind
00:02:04
of the years have worked extremely well with the elder ones and songs music videos you know
00:02:10
the kids today are very connected to technology so whatever you you give them through technology
00:02:19
it helps a lot um another another question i'd like to answer is my relationship with the kids
00:02:29
with the teachers with the director has been excellent with the kids really good because like
00:02:37
only on the second week that I was there you know I would come to the classroom and they would all
00:02:46
be going Rachel Rachel hugging me and kissing me so that was a good sign was like I think they
00:02:51
like me and that's great because basically that's my main goal to be able to motivate them so that
00:02:55
English class is fun, you know, and that worked perfectly. I've had a very good relationship with
00:03:04
all the kids. With the teachers, it's fantastic that I actually have the English teacher in the
00:03:10
classroom with me, because if I have to concentrate all my energy on just keeping the group in
00:03:16
control, then I don't have much time to actually develop the exercises. And the last question I'd
00:03:23
like to answer is would I recommend this to other English speakers definitely yes definitely because
00:03:32
it's a great experience you get to meet a lot of people you get to know how to work with children
00:03:38
and you learn how to work with children you learn a lot from the teachers and you learn a lot from
00:03:45
the children because they they're great and it's a it's very interesting and thorough experience so
00:03:52
I definitely recommend it.
