Hello, chicos! Today, we're going to learn about third-person singular. 00:00:00
This is when you use the third-person pronouns, namely he, she, it, and they in singular form. 00:00:06
Singular means only one person. 00:00:16
The verbs that go with third-person singular always end in S. 00:00:19
For most of the verbs, you just add s. 00:00:25
Example, eat becomes eats. 00:00:30
Run becomes runs. 00:00:34
For other verbs though, the ones that end with s, sh, ch, x, and z, you have to add es. 00:00:37
Example, box becomes boxes. 00:00:49
Wash becomes washes 00:00:52
There are also other verbs, the ones that end with Y 00:00:56
Where you have to change Y to I and add ES 00:01:01
Example, study becomes studies 00:01:06
Carry becomes carries 00:01:11
Now, let's see some examples 00:01:14
What do you think this sentence is? 00:01:18
She eats at half past one. 00:01:29
Remember, the verb eats has s at the end. 00:01:32
We do this because it makes the sentence sound correct. 00:01:38
Imagine if there was no s. 00:01:44
She eat at half past one. 00:01:47
Sounds weird, doesn't it? 00:01:50
That's why we always add s at the end of the verb. 00:01:52
Let's look at another example. 00:01:57
What do you think this sentence is? 00:02:00
He does grocery at quarter to four. 00:02:04
What's the verb in the sentence? 00:02:09
If you guessed do, then very good. 00:02:13
Do is the verb and we add es. 00:02:17
Because again, example. 00:02:20
He do grocery at quarter to four. 00:02:22
It sounds strange. 00:02:26
That's why the sentence is, he does grocery at quarter to four. 00:02:29
Now, you guys try to make the sentence. 00:02:36
She mows the lawn at eight o'clock. 00:02:44
The verb in the sentence is mows. 00:02:48
Now, for the last sentence, what do you think? 00:02:52
She works at ten to two. 00:02:56
The verb in the sentence is works. 00:03:02
Thank you so much for listening. 00:03:08
