In 1902, Alfonso XIII, son of Alfonso XII, was proclaimed king. 00:00:05
During his reign, social and political conflicts in Spain happened. 00:00:19
Strikes organized by labor unions took place due to the poor working conditions. 00:00:22
The nationalism in Catalonia, Galicia and País Vasco demanded more autonomy. 00:00:33
And the war in Morocco, where many Spanish soldiers died, and Spain lost territories in North Africa. 00:00:40
There were many conflicts between workers and employers. 00:00:52
Employers hired mercenaries to take down the leaders of the workers, and the workers attacked the nobility and the bourgeois. 00:00:56
