Good morning, everybody. Well, I'm going to tell you what we're doing today for social sciences, okay? 00:00:05
So, as usual, we click in Mi Clase, Contenido, open the book, enter in, go to Ancient History. 00:00:12
Yesterday or the previous day we did Let's Start, so we are going to do the start of the Ancient History in Spain, alright? 00:00:23
right? So how was this start? Okay, so as we said the other day, Celts and Iberians, 00:00:34
Celts that were on the north and Iberians that were on the south and in the middle, 00:00:48
Celt Iberians lived on the Iberian Peninsula, okay, from about the 10th century before Christ, 00:00:53
which is 1000 years before Christ. People from other places in the world came to the Iberian 00:01:01
Peninsula, like Phoenicians, Greeks, or Carthaginians. There were different civilizations 00:01:14
that came to the peninsula. Normally they were looking for metals, but they also wanted to trade 00:01:22
with the people in the Iberian Peninsula, and they also established colonies. 00:01:29
Colonies, very important word, colonies, okay? So, the Greeks came from Greece, obviously, 00:01:34
and they established colonies in the northeastern coast, like Emporion or Rhodes. If we go down in 00:01:43
the key we see greek colony that is the red triangle so those two were greek colonies 00:01:51
then the carthaginians they came from the north of africa okay they came from a city called um 00:02:00
cartago all right and they were the carthaginians and they established colonies in the peninsula 00:02:09
and the balearic island okay listen to that they came from carthago they made carthago nova 00:02:16
so the new carthago and it is called nowadays cartagena okay so i i'm sure you remember from 00:02:26
previous session activities all right so at the end the phoenicians came from asia and they 00:02:33
They established colonies in the southern coast. 00:02:42
We have Gades, which is Cádiz, Malacca, Málaga, and other ones. 00:02:45
All right? 00:02:51
So, very quickly, en español. 00:02:52
and the mixed culture more or less by the center, which were the Celtiberes, and they were out there 00:03:11
since the beginning of the ancient age and around the 10th century BC, which we are talking about 00:03:22
a thousand years, ten centuries are a thousand years before Christ, because different peoples, different 00:03:31
civilizations came to the peninsula we had the Phoenicians the Carthaginians and the Greeks 00:03:39
of agreement normally they came looking for metal but because normal because they normally wanted to trade 00:03:47
with the people who were in the peninsula and on some occasions they established colonies, that is, 00:03:54
small cities that they were sowing for foreign lands far from their 00:04:00
lands of origin ok then we have that good the greeks 00:04:09
they came from greece evidently and established colonies in the northeast in 00:04:14
the northeastern coast of the mediterranean we have here in the north of 00:04:20
what is now catalonia worth the carthaginians came from a city of 00:04:23
state called Carthage, which is in the north of Africa, and they established colonies in the 00:04:29
peninsula and in the Balearic Islands. Notice that this is Carthago Nova, like the new Carthage, 00:04:34
which today is called Cartagena. The city from which it came was called Carthage and they made the new 00:04:43
So, let's go on. What did they 00:04:58
leave to us? What are the important things they contribute with? Phoenicians, Greeks and 00:05:08
Carthaginians, they changed how people lived in the Iberian Peninsula. So they introduced new 00:05:17
products like wine or olive oil. They introduced writing, which is a very important thing. But 00:05:23
Phoenicians, they introduced coins for trade, which is an important thing, okay? Because they 00:05:30
stopped just exchanging products and they gave a value for everything and a value in coins that 00:05:38
normally used to be silver coins to trade, okay? And there are many remains of their colonies that 00:05:50
we can see. An example of that are the remains of Emporion and Purias that is in the north of 00:05:58
modern-day Catalonia, alright? So we can see here a Greek coin, a Phoenician writing, and remains of 00:06:06
Ampurias, alright?
of our identity stamps right now from Spain, look, they introduced the 00:06:34
writing that we have said that this made enter the Iberian Peninsula 00:06:40
full in the old age with the introduction of writing but also 00:06:45
something very important is that they introduced the use of coins for 00:06:51
trade and it was no longer a simple exchange trick of some things for 00:06:54
other but it was given an objective value to each thing and then a dozen 00:07:00
of eggs worth so many coins a loaf of straw worth so many coins or a kilo 00:07:05
of silver is worth so many coins and so that way it could be traded more 00:07:12
easily and well and here you have examples of different 00:07:16
legato de restos de aquellas culturas. 00:07:22
Alright? 00:07:40
So, for today, you are going to do activity number three, 00:07:41
true or false, 00:07:45
and you are going to do only the first part. 00:07:47
You are not doing this one. 00:07:50
Only this one, only the first tick 00:07:51
¿Vale?
Solo la true or false 00:07:59
Que es que en el primer tick 00:08:02
Y le damos al tick 00:08:03
Y hacemos true or false 00:08:06
¿Vale? Activity 3, part 1 00:08:09
Are these sentences true or false? 00:08:11
You choose the Carthaginians came from Asia 00:08:13
True or false? 00:08:16
And with this you go on and finish it 00:08:18
All right, but afterwards, as usual, we go back, we get into the plus zone, we go to the digital activities and we do activity one, the start of the ancient history in Spain. 00:08:21
we need to complete the sentences tenemos que completar las frases llenando los huecos and 00:08:40
activity number two what did phoenicians carthaginians and greeks introduce que introdujeron los 00:08:48
