The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is a non-profit education organization, established under a 20-year joint venture contract between Shanghai Jiatong University and the Brussels-based European Foundation for Management Development.
The school is one of the most successful capital investments the EU has made in China. CEIBS is the first choice for leading businesses to solve their Number One challenge in China: their demand for capable, internationally oriented, yet China-experienced managers and leaders. With 180 MBA graduates, 600 EMBA graduates and 8,000 participants in Executive Education Programmes annually, and a total of 4,500 alumni, CEIBS provides a lively network platform.

Eileen Zhu is symbolic of China's renaissance. Her grandparents were peasant farmers and 00:00:00
her grandfather joined Mao's revolutionary army. Just two generations later, Eileen lives 00:00:08
a radically different life here in Shanghai. 00:00:13
I think definitely the future will be really prospecting. For me, I think with my previous 00:00:16
background in marketing and in media, I think in the future I can do more contribution to 00:00:23
make it more international and make it more, how to say, independent. 00:00:28
Eileen is an MBA student at CEIBS, the China-Europe International Business School. Founded in 00:00:35
1994 as a joint venture between the European Commission and the Chinese government, the 00:00:42
school successfully promotes China's integration into the world economy and wider links to 00:00:47
Europe. 00:00:52
The number of students we graduate every year is in the order of 650 to 670 at the moment. 00:00:53
That is huge by any standard and very necessary and much appreciated by the market in China 00:01:00
makes a big impact. 00:01:05
Chinese graduates of CEIBS now form part of a rising middle class. But the wealth gap 00:01:07
is increasing, as are regional imbalances. Growth will continue to underpin China's reform 00:01:12
agenda, a reform that Europe continues to support. 00:01:18
Our interests, our European interests, are better served by a stable and prosperous China, 00:01:22
so in terms of climate change, global health, problem migration, etc. On all these issues 00:01:31
we need a cooperative attitude of China. 00:01:40
Cooperation works both ways, and European graduates of CEIBS are also embracing the 00:01:44
opportunities of this self-confident market. 00:01:49
Pierre Garody and Joe Trummer launched their fast food chain in the city last autumn. They're 00:01:53
already at two locations, selling frankfurters and meatballs to young Chinese consumers. 00:01:58
There are some particular issues, like licensing, which are way more complex than back home. 00:02:05
It's cheaper for sure than starting something like this in the United States or in Europe. 00:02:12
I would say that there's no better place than China nowadays if you want to be an entrepreneur 00:02:17
and if you want to do something like this. 00:02:23
