When we ask questions about animals in general,

we use this structure,

are they, plus an adjective.

For example, are they big?

etc. When the answer is affirmative, we say yes, they are. When the answer is negative,

we use no, they aren't. So, for example, imagine we are talking about elephants. Are they big?
