Do you know what all of these things are? This is a book of maps. It's called a 00:00:03
atlas. This is a model of the earth. It's called a globe. This is a picture of the 00:00:13
earth it's called a map this tells us which way is north south east and west 00:00:28
it's called a compass there are five different forms of relief a mountain a 00:00:43
mountain is high land mountain range which is more than one mountain a 00:01:10
mountain range is highland a valley a valley is lowland a plateau a plateau is 00:01:21
highland and a plane a plane is lowland this is a mountain this is another 00:01:44
mountain this is a mountain range this is a valley this is a plane and this is 00:02:00
a plateau. There are many different types of rocks on planet Earth and we have 00:02:18
studied four of them. Rocks are non-living organisms. Some rocks are 00:02:56
smooth, some rocks are rough, some rocks are soft and some rocks are hard. Granite 00:03:04
is a very hard rock. Slate is also a hard rock. Limestone is a soft rock and clay is 00:03:14
a very soft rock. We use rocks to make many different things. Granite is used to make 00:03:32
pavements. Slate is used to make roofs. Limestone is used to make cement and clay is used to 00:03:42
make bricks. Do you remember what this is called? It's a model of the earth. It's called 00:04:00
a globe. The areas in blue are water and they are oceans. The other colours are land and 00:04:07
make up the different continents. There are five oceans. Here they are in order of size. 00:04:23
The Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Antarctic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. 00:04:33
The biggest is the Pacific Ocean and the smallest is the Arctic Ocean. 00:04:50
There are six different continents. America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica. 00:04:58
We live in Europe. 00:05:20
