hi everybody so today we've got a very special guest it's one of our newest students her name
00:00:00
is sophia kennedy and she has come to jose bergamin all the way from miami usa good morning
00:00:13
sophia hello so tell me sophia um how's it working out like the first few months of school do you
00:00:22
What's the main difference between school in Miami and school here in Spain?
00:00:29
Well, the food definitely and also the language barrier.
00:00:35
Okay, so you're finding it quite hard to learn the language.
00:00:42
Yes.
00:00:46
Did you think it was going to be so difficult?
00:00:46
No, not really.
00:00:50
Okay, so the reason we've asked you to come here to the radio today
00:00:53
is we wanted to ask you a little bit about the customs.
00:00:57
in the United States and how Halloween is celebrated in the USA.
00:01:01
Would you please tell us something about how you used to celebrate Halloween
00:01:08
when you lived in the United States?
00:01:13
Well, there were a lot of inflatables and other stuff like that.
00:01:16
There were some houses that would give out huge candy bars and stuff,
00:01:22
But there were also some houses that I didn't really like that would give out toothbrushes.
00:01:29
Toothbrushes?
00:01:37
Yeah.
00:01:38
Wow. Never heard of that before.
00:01:39
So did you always get dressed up and go out on Halloween night?
00:01:41
Yeah.
00:01:46
And would you say that most of the kids in the United States always go out on Halloween?
00:01:48
Yes, but some won't because of the religion.
00:01:53
oh religious things okay um were there any really scary houses near your
00:01:58
in your neighborhood that you would never go near um well i was never really afraid of those
00:02:05
houses because the scarier ones would give out the better candy okay and another thing i wanted
00:02:11
to ask you about was the day of the dead because you told me that um a lot of the mexicans who live
00:02:21
in in miami celebrated this festival can you tell me a little bit about the day of the dead
00:02:28
well usually in the library i would learn a little bit of more or less about it um one thing that i
00:02:32
did learn about it was the that there's two days actually one for the kids and one for the adults
00:02:41
so when you say the kids you mean the children that had died yes unfortunately yeah and then
00:02:47
like the one day is for the kids and then the next day is for the adults yeah and somebody told me
00:02:55
yesterday as well a mexican that they actually have a day for the the animals as well there's
00:03:01
like the 27th 28th is actually for the animals so that was a bit weird as well anyway so i really
00:03:06
hope um you're going to be able to learn spanish soon so maybe the next time we interview we could
00:03:13
interview you in spanish hopefully okay so i hope you get used to the food soon as well it's been
00:03:18
