You're watching UNICEF Television. 00:00:00
Cricket fever has taken hold of the West Indies. 00:00:02
Fans from around the globe have descended upon the Caribbean 00:00:08
island of St. Lucia to watch their favorite teams compete 00:00:11
in the ICC Cricket World Cup. 00:00:15
Several players are taking time out from the action 00:00:17
to support the Unite for Children, 00:00:20
Unite Against AIDS campaign. 00:00:22
England cricketer Ian Bell visited a group of students 00:00:24
in Oddsum attending an alternative school called 00:00:28
the Care Oddsum Center. 00:00:30
He toured the classrooms and held a lively question 00:00:33
and answer session. 00:00:38
He also stressed the importance of leading a positive lifestyle 00:00:40
as they chase their dreams. 00:00:43
With an estimated 15,000 children under 14 00:00:45
in the Caribbean living with HIV, 00:00:48
Bell's message was right on target. 00:00:50
I obviously feel very lucky and privileged the fact 00:00:53
that I've been able to achieve what I want to and it's nice 00:00:55
to be able to give back to kids 00:00:57
and hopefully give them an opportunity or some insight 00:00:59
into how I've been able to do it and other people have 00:01:01
and so they can go off 00:01:04
and try and achieve exactly what they want to in life. 00:01:05
Bell ended his visit by coaching the young players 00:01:10
on the finer points of the game. 00:01:12
Two other players from England, Ravi Bhopara 00:01:15
and Sajid Mahmood made a similar visit 00:01:18
to a UNICEF supported school in Castries. 00:01:21
By recognizing the dangers posed to children by HIV-AIDS, 00:01:25
the World Cup of Cricket might prove 00:01:29
that it not only brings out the best in sport, 00:01:31
it brings out the best in humanity. 00:01:34
This is Thomas Naibo reporting for UNICEF Television 00:01:37
in Oddsum, St. Lucia. 00:01:40
Unite for Children. 00:01:42
