PERIODS IN HISTORY

Descargar la transcripción

We are going to learn about history. We are going to learn then about how people lived in the past 00:00:02
and about some important events and people in history. But what is history? History is everything 00:00:09
that happened in the past. It is very important because we can learn from the past. We can 00:00:18
understand why things happen in our world and use this information to make our lives better. 00:00:25
We can divide history into five main periods, prehistory and then history. 00:00:46
In history, we can divide the periods into the ancient history, the Middle Ages, 00:00:55
the early modern age, the modern age and the period in which we live now, the contemporary age. 00:01:03
To order the most important events in a person's life, we use a timeline. 00:01:24
In this example, today is year 2020. 00:01:30
In year 1992, Teacher Maria was born, and in year 1968, Teacher Charo was 4 years old. 00:01:35
So, Teacher Charo was 4 years old 50 years ago, 00:01:45
And Teacher Maria was born 27 years ago. 00:01:52
And now, when were you born? 00:01:58
But in the history of the world there are many years. 00:02:01
Imagine if you had to write all of them in a timeline. 00:02:09
That's why we put together a hundred years and we made up a century. 00:02:13
Let's go on a trip to the past. 00:02:22
Prehistory started when the first humans appeared. 00:02:31
Ancient history started when people invented writing. 00:03:08
Some civilizations appeared, such as Romans, Greeks, or Egyptians. 00:03:12
The Middle Ages started in 476 A.D. 00:03:29
Here we can see Johannes Gutenberg with the first printing press in the early years of the modern age. 00:03:46
And it was also in the modern age when Cristóbal Colón discovered America. 00:04:07
There were important changes in the 19th century. 00:04:15
One of the most important was the invention of the steam engine and the steam trains. 00:04:28
And this is our last stop in the trip through the past, we are in year 1969, in the Contemporary Age, in the 20th century. 00:04:47
Here we are with the American astronaut Neil Armstrong who landed on the Moon for the first time. 00:05:00
