Hello, Dr. Textbook here. 00:00:00
Have you ever wondered how birds fly? 00:00:03
Well, that's exactly the question that Orville and Wilbur Wright 00:00:08
pondered when they were trying to discover controlled flight. 00:00:12
And it led them to this, an inner tube box. 00:00:16
Well, you may say, Dr. Textbook, are you mad? 00:00:22
What has an inner tube box got to do 00:00:25
with the story of controlled flight? 00:00:27
Well, the story is this. 00:00:29
One day in their bicycle shop, the Wright brothers 00:00:31
are talking to some clients. 00:00:34
And they're playing with an inner tube box 00:00:36
and twisting it back and forth. 00:00:38
And one day, they suddenly realize, Eureka, this is it. 00:00:41
This is the answer to our quest, controlled flight. 00:00:45
Get it? 00:00:49
Well, in 1903, it was a very big year. 00:00:50
Because in that year, the automobile 00:00:54
made its first cross-country trip from San Francisco 00:00:56
to New York City. 00:00:59
And the Wright brothers made their historic first flight. 00:01:01
You see, technology now has surpassed the expectations 00:01:05
that the Wright brothers had for their aeroplane. 00:01:09
Of course, we've all heard about NASA's HyperX plane. 00:01:16
With its new technology, we'll all 00:01:21
be able to fly much faster and more efficiently 00:01:23
than this 1911 Model B aeroplane. 00:01:26
Within the next 100 years, innovative technology 00:01:29
will make the skies the limit. 00:01:32
Ooh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho. 00:01:35
Just for fun, let's see how this 1911 Model B aeroplane 00:01:49
fares in the skies with my hyper-realistic simulation 00:01:55
of planes from the future. 00:01:59
Whoa! 00:02:01
Ah! 00:02:02
Ah! 00:02:03
Ah! 00:02:04
Ah! 00:02:05
Ah! 00:02:06
Ah! 00:02:07
Not a very good idea. 00:02:08
