Today we are going to talk about the three main chemical reactions, ok? 00:00:10

The first chemical reaction is combustion. 00:00:19
When a substance gets in contact with oxygen, some energy is produced, for example light or heat. 00:00:24
But, we need three different things to produce that combustion. 00:00:35
We need fuel, for example wood. 00:00:41
We need oxygen. 00:00:44
And we need an energy, for example a hot environment. 00:00:46
This process produces a new substance that, in the case of fire, is smoke or ash. 00:00:51
The next one is oxidation. 00:01:03
And it is when a substance that could be fuel or even metals gets in contact with oxygen. 00:01:06
That produces a color change. 00:01:13
In the case of metals, rust appears. 00:01:16
Remember that rust is a reddish brownish substance that easily breaks apart and usually makes the original object useless. 00:01:20
You have to remember that salt speeds it up. 00:01:35
That's why that in the sea, if you have a house in the sea, you can see that those metal objects get rusty quicker than in magic, for example. 00:01:39
The last one is fermentation. 00:01:57
In this case, we don't need oxygen. 00:02:01
We just need microorganisms that produce a sugar transformation. 00:02:04
We have two types of microorganisms. 00:02:09
We have fungi and bacteria. 00:02:12
Fungi produces alcohol and carbon dioxide, while bacteria produces lactic acid and carbon dioxide. 00:02:15
