that's really very important for us, the teachers, 00:00:34
the students, researchers, and policymakers. 00:00:37
And just to point out that the organization of an event 00:00:41
of this type is no easy matter. 00:00:45
In that case, a special, special mention 00:00:48
for all those from both the Language Center 00:00:50
at this university and the Consejeria de Madrid, who've 00:00:53
worked long, long hours to make this second conference 00:00:56

the attendees to all of you who at this time make an effort for a Saturday afternoon to be here 00:01:42

that is left of the weekend but the truth is that for me it is especially grateful to close this 00:01:55
second international congress of bilingual teaching in educational centers and as it could not 00:02:03
I am going to start by thanking the University of Rey Juan Carlos for being a fundamental part of this conference. 00:02:10
Not only for participating in the organization but also for giving us this magnificent campus 00:02:24
so that this macro congress can be developed in it, which I join for the first time, 00:02:31
but I believe that it is a congress of a lot of people, a lot of organization and that carries a lot of work behind it. 00:02:36
Also, of course, I would like to thank all the sponsors with whom we have spoken. 00:02:44
Without them, this congress would probably be simply a project 00:02:51
and not the success that has been proven over these three intense days. 00:02:56
Throughout these three days, there have been many very interesting presentations 00:03:04
that will probably serve as a reflection and starting point for numerous investigations, 00:03:09
investigations from very different fields, from the point of view of the research of the university professor, 00:03:16
from the point of view of the teachers of the schools and institutes and also from all those who participate in the educational field from the administration. 00:03:23
For me it is very gratifying, yesterday at dinner when I was talking to several people and they told me that these congresses serve to, in some cases, 00:03:35
strengthen the development of bilingual teaching in some autonomous communities and in others to put it into practice, 00:03:44
because it is still an incipient situation and from the congress they obtained a lot of ideas 00:03:50
for this to become a reality, the truth is that it is a wonder and after these three days 00:03:55
because I have the feeling that it is a success it is a success for more than 100 speakers who have 00:04:02
participated in 22 communications 16 workshops six panels the truth is that that is why I said before 00:04:08
of a macro conference the level of coordination that has to exist for this to work that it has 00:04:18
the assistance it has had because it is wonderful and there I also wanted to say not only of course 00:04:24
those who have actively participated but also the assistants 500 assistants is a 00:04:30
real bunch of people who are interested in bilingual teaching and at this moment I do 00:04:35
I want to refer, especially for being the community, to the teachers, to the directors, coordinators of the schools and bilingual institutes, both public and concerted. 00:04:41
Because without their effort, without their daily work, the bilingual project would not be the reality and the success it is today. 00:04:55
I'm an economist and I can't avoid thinking in economic terms, so I thought that what bilingual teachers and institutes can really achieve is to make themselves available, 00:05:06
to open a framework of opportunities for Madrid students and students in general who used to have us. 00:05:21
what you allow is that the freedom of movement of people throughout the European Union and beyond 00:05:29
in the whole world because it is a reality and that is a wonder is how Fred said you have 00:05:36
become leaders in leaders to follow because the truth is that you give them an opportunity 00:05:42
that did not exist before so that each student can study at the university that is more in line 00:05:46
with their interests and can work the next day where I have an opportunity without 00:05:54
a language barrier that prevents access to it therefore thank you very much because you are 00:05:59
the leaders of future generations and as a mother I feel part of it too 00:06:05
it is not a I do not discover anything new if I say that from the community of madrid bilingual teaching 00:06:13
is a priority it has been started in 2004-2005 and to this day it is still the data that 00:06:19

That means that more or less a third of the public schools students can do their bilingual teaching in Spanish and English. 00:07:16
This is not something other than the manifestation that for the community of Madrid, bilingual teaching is a priority and a political priority within its educational policy. 00:07:28
They show all the efforts, not only economic, but also time, effort, materials that are made so that it is true. 00:07:43
And this is because, in reality, from the Comunidad de Madrid we think at all times about a quality education 00:07:53
that facilitates young people who have it so difficult today to enter the labor market. 00:07:59
to be able to enter. They know, we are aware that the language of any language is needed, especially English, and therefore no kind of effort is going to be made. 00:08:05
I'm going to finish, but before I finish, I think it's my duty to thank all the members, all the people who have worked hard since the Council of Employment Education, 00:08:17
It means a lot of hours out of their working hours, out of what corresponded to them, for this congress to be a success. 00:08:31
That is why I want to publicly thank all of them. I could not name names, but there are many. 00:08:39
I see them here in the front row, but there are many more, apart from the ones I see here. 00:08:44
I just want to reiterate that I invite you to come back to the next International Congress of Bilingualism, 00:08:48
