Nuestra teacher nos cuenta Elmer
Today we're going to read about Elmer the Elephant. Are you guys ready? Awesome.
00:00:07
Wait, that's not the story yet.
00:00:13
Here we have Elmer. Elmer. And this is by David McKee. He is the author. He's super cool.
00:00:18
Amazing. Alright.
00:00:25
So, once upon a time, once upon a time, there was this herd of elephants.
00:00:27
So many elephants. There were tall ones, and short ones, and big ones, and skinny ones.
00:00:35
But all of the elephants were the same color. They're all gray. They're all gray elephants.
00:00:44
They're all the same elephant color. However, there was one elephant that was different.
00:00:50
He's different because he has a lot of different colors. Can you see all his different colors?
00:00:58
he's red and yellow and purple and orange and blue and white and so many
00:01:05
more colors he's all these different colors which is super cool
00:01:16
however all the other other elephants they make fun of him and tease him
00:01:19
because he's different because he's different and it's kind of sad and so
00:01:26
he's not having a good time being an elephant and they push him and they're mean to him and so
00:01:31
he decides one day he's gonna run away and try to find other people who look like him or try to be
00:01:40
in some place better because he deserves to be happy he deserves to be happy because they're
00:01:48
all pretty mean to him so he goes and he sees he sees who does he see a lion he sees a tiger
00:01:53
he sees a hippopotamus he sees a zebra and he sees a turtle a turtle but none of them are like him
00:02:04
none of them are as colorful as he is they're all just normal colors
00:02:14
And so he finds this tree. This tree with all these different berries. You see the berries?
00:02:18
And he starts shaking it. He shakes the tree. He shakes it, shakes it, shakes it, shakes it,
00:02:26
shakes it. And what happens when he shakes the tree? The berries start to fall off. All these
00:02:31
berries are falling, falling off the tree, and he sees, he sees all these berries, these gray
00:02:36
berries, and he decides, I'm going to pull a trick. I'm going to do a cool thing. I'm going
00:02:44
to put all the berries on me because they're gray and all my friends are gray and so he starts
00:02:50
putting them all over his body to cover up all his colors to cover up his colors and so he goes
00:02:57
back to his herd he goes back past all these animals who don't know who he is anymore who is
00:03:04
this new elephant the crocodile is like who are you who are you the turtle is like who are you
00:03:10
Who are you? The zebra says, who are you? You're not Elmer. You're not Elmer. So it is the hippo
00:03:18
and the tiger and the lion. And so he goes back to his herd of elephants and look, can you find
00:03:26
Elmer? Where is Elmer? Which one is he? He's not special anymore. He's this one. He is the same
00:03:34
color as all of his friends he's the same color they're all gray they're all gray elephants
00:03:43
and he realizes elmer realizes it's kind of sad being one that's not special you know
00:03:52
he misses all his colors and no he doesn't really stand out anymore but he's also happy
00:03:59
because nobody makes fun of him anymore which is sad don't you see this what's this what is this
00:04:06
Elmer's blending in he's having a good time and so now he's thinking about how happy he is that
00:04:15
nobody makes fun of him but he's also realizing he's not special and then what happens what is
00:04:25
this it's a thunderstorm it's raining and they're all laughing and there's something's happening
00:04:35
And they're just going crazy.
00:04:45
I don't know what's happening.
00:04:48
What's happening?
00:04:49
And it starts to rain.
00:04:53
It starts raining.
00:04:57
It starts raining.
00:04:58
And Elmer, you see Elmer?
00:05:01
All of his gray starts to wash off.
00:05:04
It starts to go away.
00:05:07
And all the other elephants, they're laughing.
00:05:09
They're laughing about it.
00:05:13
they're laughing because it's so fun to be in the ring and so every day on the
00:05:14
anniversary of Elmer coloring himself they all do so many cool colors because
00:05:26
they thought it was so funny that Elmer painted himself to fit in and so to
00:05:32
celebrate Elmer and to celebrate diversity they all paint themselves in
00:05:37
super pretty colors, and Elmer gets to be normal for a day, but he's still special because
00:05:42
everybody else is doing super cool colors. And that's the end. Thank you.
