The Case of the Missing Smile by T. Albert
00:00:00
Now this looks like a very interesting case, Detective Peterson said out loud as she reviewed
00:00:03
the huge stack of reports on her desk. I think I will handle this one myself.
00:00:17
After several minutes of searching through the official Tooth Fairy records, she found
00:00:25
what she was looking for, a folder with the name Sally Sue Simmons.
00:00:31
Hmm, Detective Peterson mumbled as she studied the file.
00:00:39
As Detective Peterson read the report, she noted that Sally Sue always smiled.
00:00:47
From the time she got out of bed to the time she went back to bed, she smiled.
00:00:55
In fact, Sally Sue never seemed to stop smiling.
00:01:00
Then, two days ago, Sally Sue stopped smiling.
00:01:08
Why? Detective Peterson wondered. I must find out why and get Sally Sue's smile back, she said to
00:01:14
herself. She searched through the file but couldn't find anything that could have caused Sally Sue
00:01:22
to stop smiling all of a sudden. Was she happy at home? The smile-o-meter indicated yes. Was she
00:01:31
happy at school? The smile-o-meter indicated yes. Was she happy with her friends? The smile-o-meter
00:01:46
indicated yes. Everything that Detective Peterson found indicated that Sally Sue was happy and that
00:01:59
she should be smiling. The detective checked with the dentist and everything was fine. The detective
00:02:10
checked with Tooth Fairy Central. All of Sally Sue's baby teeth had fallen out, been collected
00:02:23
as scheduled, and replaced with new, extremely pretty, permanent teeth. Detective Peterson
00:02:30
checked everything, but she couldn't find anything that could cause Sally Sue to stop
00:02:39
smiling. There was only one choice left. Detective Peterson had to visit Sally Sue and see what
00:02:44
she could do. That night, Detective Peterson flew down and visited Sally Sue. Making sure that she
00:02:55
didn't wake Sally Sue, she sprinkled magical tooth fairy sand into the air. Sally Sue, Detective
00:03:08
Peterson whispered, what happened to your beautiful smile? You look so sad. I lost all my baby teeth,
00:03:19
she whispered. Now the tooth fairy doesn't have any reason to visit me. Oh, I understand. Detective
00:03:32
Peterson whispered between smiling lips. The tooth fairy will always be in your heart,
00:03:43
so you can wipe that silly frown off your pretty face. As Detective Peterson flew away from Sally
00:03:50
Sue's bedside, she saw the smile return, bigger and brighter than ever before.
