Hello class, it's teacher Shaila. Today we're going to start a new topic together 00:00:00
and learn all about tools and machines. Please turn to page 96 in your natural science book 00:00:06
and let's get started. In this unit you will learn all about tools and machines. 00:00:15
Tools and machines are used by humans to help them do things and lift things and move faster. 00:00:23
Go to activity one. You will look at the picture above, listen, and circle the tools and machines that I say. 00:00:33
We have a washboard, a bicycle, a plow, a radio, and a telephone. 00:00:51
This is an old telephone. It looks very different from the ones that we use today. 00:01:07
Now let's go to exercise two. Look at the machine in the picture. 00:01:16
what's this old machine? Tick the correct answer, then write the word of the machine. If you think 00:01:22
and remember, you will know that computers and tablets are very new. They are new inventions 00:01:35
and new machines that have only been made about 20 years ago. So they are new. 00:01:46
They are not old. However, a telephone was created about a hundred and fifty years 00:01:53
ago. That is a very long time ago. So we will tick telephone and we will write 00:02:02
It's a telephone. This old version of a telephone has a dial, a cord, and a 00:02:12
mouthpiece. It looks very different from the mobile phone that we use at home or 00:02:25
bring with us from place to place to communicate. Now let's go forward to 00:02:34
exercise three. Listen while I explain each machine and tool and match them to 00:02:42
their correct picture. A wheel turns in a circle. This is a wheel so we can connect 00:02:51
to wheel. Bicycle. You can ride a bicycle from place to place and in the park. 00:03:04
Radio. We listen to the radio for news and music. Washing machine. We put our 00:03:15
clothing into the washing machine to clean our clothes. And plow. This is a 00:03:28
plow. We use a plow to help us farm. Next we can try to mime a tool or machine. So 00:03:38
think of all of these different tools and machines that we have just reviewed 00:03:53
and try to guess what tool or machine I am miming, I am acting out, okay? Now look 00:03:59
at me acting out or miming using a invention and machine and you can guess 00:04:10
what machine I am using, okay? Hello, good to talk to you. How are you today? 00:04:19
Oh, that's great. Okay, thank you for calling. Okay, bye-bye. What machine was that that 00:04:32
I was using? Yes, excellent. It is a telephone. Good work, class. Let's continue forward with 00:04:44
the exercises and thank you for learning with me. Bye-bye. 00:04:57
