Kelty Morash recites Summer Morning by Charles Simic

Descargar la transcripción

This is Summer Morning by Charles Simic. 00:00:05
I love to stay in bed, all morning, 00:00:09
covers thrown off, naked, eyes closed, listening. 00:00:16
Outside they're opening their primers in the little school of the cornfield. 00:00:21
There's a smell of damp hay, of horses, laziness, summer sky, and eternal life. 00:00:27
I know all the dark places where the sun hasn't reached yet 00:00:35
Where the last cricket has just hushed 00:00:40
Ant hills 00:00:44
Where it sounds like it's raining 00:00:44
Slumbering spider-spinning wedding dresses 00:00:47
I pass over the farmhouses where the little mouths open to suck 00:00:51
Barnyards where a man, naked to the waist 00:00:56
Washes his face and shoulders with a hose 00:00:59
where the dishes begin to rattle in the kitchen. 00:01:02
The good tree with its voice of a mountain stream knows my steps. 00:01:07
It, too, hushes. 00:01:13
I stop and listen. 00:01:16
Somewhere close by, a stone cracks a knuckle. 00:01:19
Another turns over in its sleep. 00:01:23
I hear a butterfly stirring inside a caterpillar. 00:01:25
I hear the dust talking of last night's storm. Farther ahead, someone even more silent passes over the grass without bending it, and all of a sudden, in the midst of that quiet, it seems possible to live simply on this earth. 00:01:29
