Concurso de la APPF (Autoridad para los Partidos Políticos Europeos y las Fundaciones Políticas Europeas)
With Franco, we live better.
00:00:01
Of course, there was more security.
00:00:03
All politicians are the same.
00:00:05
What?
00:00:07
But do you really know what democracy means?
00:00:08
Abraham Lincoln once said,
00:00:11
Democracy is the government of the people, for the people, by the people.
00:00:13
As he scored, democracy is a system of government in which citizens have the right to participate in political decision-making.
00:00:17
In fact, the word comes from the Greek, and it literally means people power.
00:00:25
Democracy is like the air around us. We hardly notice it in our daily lives. We breathe it, we enjoy it.
00:00:29
But we realize how essential it is the moment it starts to disappear.
00:00:36
How can the EU uphold its democratic values?
00:00:40
I have an idea.
00:00:44
Our first idea is creating an app which promotes democratic values.
00:00:46
Firstly, objective and truthful information about each political party would be provided,
00:00:51
leaving behind misinformation and fake news.
00:00:56
Secondly, no more I didn't vote because I was too far or I am too lazy to vote
00:01:00
because this app would offer secure digital voting without data manipulation from everywhere.
00:01:05
Thirdly, the app could also include a citizen's mailbox
00:01:11
where everyone could suggest what they think is most necessary for the community.
00:01:14
AI would quickly spot the most urgent topics, turning thousands of voices into clear, real-time insights.
00:01:19
When history is taught incorrectly, democracy becomes distorted.
00:01:34
For this reason, mandatory subjects should be introduced to promote democratic values and political education among young people.
00:01:40
Furthermore, the EU could use established programmes such as Erasmus+,
00:01:48
eTwinning and already existing platforms that provide teachers materials, like the European School Education Platform,
00:01:52
to enhance the teaching of democracy in school through projects such as mock elections,
00:01:59
model European Union simulations at national or international level,
00:02:04
or what about a survey to check whether the voting age should be 16?
00:02:08
But this is not enough, we want to get everyone!
00:02:12
But how?
00:02:15
Hi guys, today I'm using the hashtag democracy to promote the importance it has on our daily lives.
00:02:16
The EU should promote democratic values through creative and modern advertising,
00:02:22
not only by using social media and collaborating with influencers,
00:02:28
but creating visible, updated and dynamic ads, just like the ones we see every day.
00:02:31
Not only that, we, young people, are the real influencers.
00:02:36
We could work together to take action, for instance, promoting the vote in special events.
00:02:39
The European Union should support these initiatives.
00:02:45
Remember, by voting, your voice is heard.
00:02:50
By voting, we guarantee democracy.
