Natalia Caprile talks about podcasts: what they are, why she likes them and one of her favourites.
Hi everybody and welcome to our videos for this week. This week I am going to be talking as with
00:00:00
all weeks about something that I've been up to during quarantine and during these times.
00:00:08
So a thing that I've been doing while cleaning or cooking or while just walking around my house
00:00:13
trying to be productive is I will put on a podcast. So we are going to be talking about
00:00:21
podcasts this week. I personally like podcasts because they're a way to learn new things,
00:00:27
to stay up to date with world news, or maybe to even have an escape from the world for a moment,
00:00:36
conversely. And you could have any or some of those things combined depending on the podcast.
00:00:42
You have a lot of options for what you want to get out of a podcast. I personally listen to a
00:00:49
lot of different types of podcasts based on my mood. So I listen to news podcasts, podcasts about
00:00:55
true crime, so crimes that have been committed. I like to listen to comedy podcasts or podcasts
00:01:03
that interview different people. And one podcast that I listen to almost every day each week is
00:01:10
called The Daily. So this is a podcast that's put out by the New York Times every weekday. So Monday
00:01:18
through Friday they put it out and each episode is usually between 20 to 35 minutes so it's not
00:01:25
too long and what they do is each episode discusses one current event that the creators
00:01:31
the writers and the man who is acting who's doing the vocal acting who's speaking
00:01:39
they discuss one current event that they think is important the thing about this podcast that
00:01:45
maybe I would change a bit if I could, is that it is a bit US-centric. So it tends to focus on
00:01:52
stories in the United States more. Not always, but a lot of the time it talks about things that
00:01:58
are happening in the United States. But it is a podcast that helps me stay aware of what's going
00:02:03
on in the world. And it's not too overwhelming to me because they just pick one topic per episode.
00:02:08
So they're not saying, this is happening, and that is happening, and all of these things are
00:02:14
happening in the world. It's a zoom in and it just has this one item focus, which I really like.
00:02:18
So I would recommend that podcast to any of you if you are interested at all.
