Natalia explains the art challenge she completes 1
Hey everybody! I hope that this video finds you all well. I wanted to start off this second full
00:00:00
week of videos by showing you an activity that I have done during quarantine to stay maybe not
00:00:07
active physically but definitely active mentally and creatively in this time. So what I'm going to
00:00:15
do first is I'm going to explain this challenge to you. It's called the Getty Museum Challenge
00:00:22
And basically what people are doing is they are recreating famous paintings, famous works of art, and that can be any sort of painting.
00:00:27
So it can be a landscape, you know, maybe you're looking at rolling hills and beautiful trees and flowers, or it could be a portrait or, you know, maybe some other subject matter in there.
00:00:36
But people are recreating all of them.
00:00:49
I'll show you some examples on the screen so you can see what I'm talking about.
00:00:51
and so I took part in this challenge a couple weeks ago and I want to walk you through the
00:00:55
steps in the process of how I got through recreating a painting basically the first
00:01:08
thing I did was I had to decide what works of art I actually wanted to recreate so for me I googled
00:01:14
renaissance painting redhead renaissance painting ginger because I wanted to do a portrait or
00:01:20
something like that I thought that it would be a bit easier for me and I found those paintings
00:01:27
that I wanted to recreate. Step two was I looked at the pictures, the paintings, and I went around
00:01:31
my house and tried to find props or costumes that I could use that kind of matched the artwork. It
00:01:39
wasn't perfect, but I got as close as I could. And I'll show you the result of that in the next
00:01:46
videos. And then the third thing I did was I got ready to take the pictures. So I was home alone
00:01:52
at first, and I had rigged up this whole setup. You know, I had my phone on a water bottle,
00:01:59
the photo was going to take with a timer. I'll put a picture of that in the video here,
00:02:05
and then right as I was about to take my first picture, my roommate came home, thank goodness,
00:02:11
and she laughed at me, took the picture that I just showed you, and she offered to take my
00:02:17
pictures for me. So she was my photographer. Thank goodness she came home from the supermarket when
00:02:22
she did and it was a really good time overall we both had so much fun
00:02:28
recreating the pictures it was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to
00:02:34
be and because of that I'm recommending it to all of you a I think it's a good
00:02:37
activity that could last a couple of days you can maybe get your parents
00:02:42
involved if you have any siblings or anyone who's living with you who would
00:02:46
maybe be interested in this you could all do it together and if you want to
00:02:50
see more information or more examples, you can go on Instagram. If you look under the hashtag
00:02:55
Getty Museum Challenge, I'll write it in the video so that you can go ahead and look at them.
00:03:00
There are some really cool ones on there, some funny ones, and you could also post your own
00:03:06
pictures if you end up doing them.
