Natalia Caprile asks and answers questions about podcasts and podcasting

For this last video of the week, I'm going to ask you three questions, and we'll do the same 00:00:00
format that we've been doing in these videos in the past, where I'll ask you a question. You can 00:00:06
pause, give your answer, send your answers to me via email if you would like, and then you can 00:00:10
play again and listen to my answer. So the first question is, do you like podcasts? What do you 00:00:16
like or dislike about them. So for me, I really like podcasts. Something that I like about them 00:00:24
is that there are a ton of different types of podcasts. There are so many different options 00:00:31
that you have out there. There's something for whatever mood I'm in. If I feel like learning 00:00:36
about what's going on in the world and I feel like I need to increase my awareness, I can find a 00:00:41
podcast on that. If I need an escape from the world and I don't want to hear about the news 00:00:46
and all the things that are going on for a moment. I can listen to a comedy podcast or a podcast 00:00:50
about history or anything else, really. So I really like that option that's available with 00:00:55
podcasts in terms of the variation that exists. I also like that I can listen to podcasts while 00:01:02
I'm walking or driving. I can multitask with a podcast in a way that I wouldn't be able to do 00:01:10
while maybe reading a book, let's say. And it's something that I can do and make a part of my 00:01:15
commute to work. So I can incorporate it into my day-to-day life if I'd like to. If I'm not feeling 00:01:21
like listening to music, I think a podcast is a really great option otherwise. Question number two, 00:01:26
what subject matter or genre do you think could be best portrayed by the format of a podcast? 00:01:33
i personally think that one of the subject matters that can be really effectively portrayed 00:01:40
in the format of a podcast is news um i think that because of the way that podcasts are formatted 00:01:47
they have episodes and because of that you could use that in a news setting specifically to do 00:01:55
short episodes about a specific topic or a specific story in the news also because of the episodic 00:02:01
format of podcasts in general you could have a creator talk about very different topics from 00:02:08
episode to episode so maybe one episode they're telling a happy story of a lost puppy that was 00:02:15
found and the next episode they could be talking about a very serious news story about a tragedy 00:02:21
that's happened maybe and because you can have different episodes and they're broken up in such 00:02:27
a specific way, I think that it works very well to have a news-focused podcast. Some other potential 00:02:32
answers that you could have given me. You could have talked about comedy as a subject matter or 00:02:40
genre. You could have talked about true crime, maybe investigative journalism, sports podcasts, 00:02:46
a podcast that interviews people. There are so many other options. That's not all of them, 00:02:54
but those are just some potential answers I thought of. My third and final question is, 00:02:58
if you had to create a podcast, what would it discuss? What would the subject matter be? 00:03:04
So for me personally, among my friends, I am famous for being a person who has not seen many 00:03:10
classic films or, you know, super famous films and movies. So what I would like to do if I had 00:03:18
to have a podcast is I would watch these movies for the first time and I would comment on them 00:03:26
or discuss them and talk about what it's like to see a movie for the first time that everyone that 00:03:33
almost everyone else in the world it feels like has seen for example I just watched Jurassic Park 00:03:39
for the first time let's say so I could watch Jurassic Park for the first time comment on it 00:03:46
take notes, think about it. And maybe I would have guests sometimes on my podcast. So a friend 00:03:50
who's seen the movie before, maybe I would invite them on to discuss the movie with me 00:03:57
and talk about my realizations or thoughts or feelings. Yeah, I think that it would be a really 00:04:02
good time and it could be just fun, lighthearted, and I don't know, maybe interesting. All right, 00:04:09
that's all that I have for videos for this week. I hope that you all and your loved ones are doing 00:04:17
well. I hope that you're healthy, safe, and happy, and I'm sending you really good energy 00:04:22
for the weeks to come. See you next week. Bye! 00:04:27
