With this videotutorial we expect to help you in the dissection of a mammal´s heart.
In this project we have used a pair of scissors, tweezers and a pig's heart.

As you can see this is the left atrium and next to it it is the right atrium and this

is the right ventricle and the left ventricle.

Here we have the pulmonary artery which has two branches one for each lung and next to

What is being pointed now is the right myocardium and now you can see the tricuspid valve that

connects the right ventricle with the vena cava.

Now we are cutting the left side of the heart to find the mitral valve.

This one separates the pulmonary veins from the left ventricle.

We can observe that it is parallel to the tricuspid valve that we mentioned before.

Also we can see the myocardium, only this time it is the left myocardium.

It can be easily appreciated that this one is thicker than the other because the right

myocardium pumps the blood only to the lungs while the left pumps it to the rest of the

body.
