The Education Board of the Community of Madrid and ICM 00:00:31
have been carrying out a plan of action on the infrastructures of information and communication technologies 00:00:36
for secondary education centers, 00:00:41
with the aim of advancing the improvement of the educational quality of the Madrid centers. 00:00:43
Starting from the actions carried out, a new plan of action has been launched for 2007-2009, 00:00:48
which aims to give a definitive boost to the technologies of information and communication in the Madrid educational system. 00:01:01
The plan has a total investment of more than 27.8 million euros 00:01:08
and has a three-year execution period, 2007-2009, for its total implementation, 00:01:14
in which four main areas of action are established. 00:01:19
New infrastructures and networks of communication for the centers. 00:01:22
Personal use technologies for teachers in the classroom. 00:01:26
Development and improvement of information systems for teachers. 00:01:29
Information of the teacher. 00:01:33
The actions on infrastructures and networks of communication have started with the creation of last-generation networks, 00:01:35
personalized for each educational center and convergent in a single communication node. 00:01:45
This allows greater ease of access to the resources available to teachers and students 00:01:50
and facilitates the collaboration and compliance of educational projects, 00:01:59
while minimizing maintenance costs. 00:02:03
According to their needs, each center will participate in the configuration of its network. 00:02:06
Teachers will have mobile technologies of personal use, such as PC tablets, laptops and PDAs, 00:02:17
which will facilitate their daily work in the classroom and improve communication with families. 00:02:24
Teachers in the community will be provided with 6,000 PDAs of personal use, 00:02:30
as well as 3,000 laptops for the use of the whole classroom, 00:02:35
1,800 video projectors and 4,700 personal computers for the different departments. 00:02:40
Different equipment models are being implemented, PDAs for teachers and a laptop PC tablet for use in the classroom. 00:02:49
New functionalities will be developed in the applications that the centers use for teacher management, 00:03:00
expediting processes, integrating information and facilitating communication with families. 00:03:06
The modernization of information systems and academic and administrative management 00:03:15
is completed with the creation of a portal on the Internet for centers and families 00:03:20
and the development of online procedures through the Internet. 00:03:24
The plan includes the training of the teacher in the information systems and in the use of new tools. 00:03:30
The teacher is very aware of the need to update their knowledge of technological tools 00:03:36
and is one of the most in-demand training lines at the moment. 00:03:42
The total budget to carry out this classroom modernization project 00:03:48
is estimated at 27.8 million euros in the next three years, 00:03:52
which will be used to implement the equipment and computer systems of the community centers, 00:03:58
as well as the latest generation of infrastructures and communication networks. 00:04:03
