good morning guys how you doing i hope you're all right i'm going to show you what we have to do 00:00:06
today for social sciences so as usual we click on mi clase then we go to contenido and open the book 00:00:12
then we enter in and click on the new unit that we are going to learn that is the ancient history 00:00:21
okay and what do we know about ancient history we just know that is the one that comes after 00:00:31
the prehistory okay it comes after the prehistory and we're going to start from the very beginning 00:00:38
so click on let's start all right so again what do we know about the ancient history so 00:00:45
So the first thing we know is that it just goes after the prehistory, okay? 00:00:54
And we have learned in the previous unit that the end of prehistory and the beginning of 00:01:06
the ancient history starts when the invention of writing that was about 3,500 years before 00:01:13
Christ, okay? So, it is about 5,500 years ago, okay? So, at the beginning of the ancient history, 00:01:24
there were a couple of groups of people in the Iberian Peninsula. We could find the Celts that 00:01:37
used to live on the north and there were the Iberians that they used to be on the south, 00:01:46
all right? In the middle side there were mixed culture people that were called Celtiberians, 00:01:56
all right so um during this age many people from other places in the world came to visit us and 00:02:07
they would come to the mediterranean side of the iberian peninsula such as phoenicians greeks or 00:02:18
Carthaginians that they came, some of them came to trade, some of them came to live, 00:02:29
okay, and establish colonies or settlements, all right. Later on, the Romans, they fought 00:02:36
all these different peoples, especially the Carthaginians, and the peninsula became a part 00:02:45
of the roman empire okay so the roman empire established different cities and built roads and 00:02:54
introduced their culture and laws and language and many things okay so in espanol muy rapido 00:03:05
la edad antigua que es como se llama ancient history en español la edad antigua 00:03:15
because what we know about it is that it comes after the prehistory and at the time we learned that 00:03:21
the prehistory ended when the invention of writing appeared, okay, it was 00:03:28
3,500 years ago, that is, 3,500 years before Christ, which is more or less 5,500 years ago, okay, 00:03:35
and when the prehistory ends the writing appears and the old age begins at the 00:03:43
beginning of the old age in the Iberian peninsula there were two predominant cultures it was in 00:03:53
the north were the Celts and in the south were the Iberians or Iberians depending on there is a certain 00:04:01
certain discussion with how to call them and in the central part of spain of what is now 00:04:09
spain of what was the iberian peninsula there were some towns with mixed cultures and well 00:04:17
they are known as celtíberos ok at that time towns from other parts of the world came to 00:04:24
visit us sometimes to do business sometimes to establish colonies among them were the 00:04:32
Phoenicians the Greeks and the Carthaginians of agreement 00:04:38
later the Romans conquered the Iberian Peninsula they had to fight 00:04:43
against the Carthaginians to get it but but they ended up doing with the 00:04:50
power of the Iberian Peninsula of agreement and the Romans established their 00:04:54
cities new constructions laws culture their language and many more things 00:04:58
Pero esto todo ya lo iremos viendo a lo largo de la unidad. 00:05:07
Ok, for today you have to do activity 2 and activity 3. 00:05:11
Listen and say modern day names of these cities. 00:05:16
And activity 3 is almost the same. 00:05:19
So we are going to see the name of some cities and we have to say what are the modern day names. 00:05:23
ok we are going to see the names that came on the map of ancient cities of the iberian peninsula 00:05:29
and we have to find out what are the names of these cities today 00:05:37
ok you can ask for help from your parents you can search on the internet as you want in 00:05:43
activity 2 you have the name of the city the old name of the city and the new names 00:05:49
