It was a cold night in December. James woke up in the morning and saw the snow falling outside. 00:00:00
He ran to the window and was so excited to play in the snow. 00:00:29
He started to get dressed. He put on his jumper and then he put on his jeans. 00:00:38
He ran down the stairs and he saw his dad and he ran into the kitchen to ask his mum for help to build a snowman. 00:00:54
He got his socks and he put on his boots. 00:01:03
He ran outside to make a snowman. 00:01:15
Then he rolled a big ball to use for his head. 00:01:25
He built the body. He asked his mum for a hat and a scarf. The snowman was almost ready. 00:01:38
He got a carrot from the kitchen for his nose and three pieces of coal for his body. 00:01:57
The snowman was ready. James went back into the warm house. He was feeling tired. 00:02:09
So he went to bed. 00:02:37
But he couldn't sleep. 00:02:45
Something strange was happening. 00:02:47
The clock turned midnight, and the snowman came to life. 00:02:50
The snowman took James on an adventure. 00:03:21
They were going to visit different places in the world, 00:03:33
to see different Christmases, in different countries. 00:03:37
First, they stopped by Becca's house. 00:04:10
it was time to see a typical English Christmas they put out a carrot for 00:04:12
Rudolph the reindeer and a mince pie and a glass of milk for father Christmas 00:04:21
then they went to sleep ready to see what happened the next day the next day 00:04:33
they run downstairs father Christmas have left presents under the tree and 00:04:40
and stockings full of gifts then it was time for the christmas lunch they ate a huge roast 00:04:44
dinner with meat gravy roasted potatoes and vegetables and lots of desserts 00:04:51
they pulled the christmas crackers surprise everyone got a joke and a hat 00:04:58
after dinner they were tired but they played lots of different christmas games 00:05:06
and relaxed for the rest of the evening. 00:05:11
James and the snowman had seen enough of the English Christmas. 00:05:20
They flew in the air again and they saw a boat heading for the Philippines. 00:05:24
They started to follow it. It was time to visit Mia and Ken. 00:05:29
When they arrived in Ken's house, he and his family were busy setting up the billets, 00:05:48
A special exhibition of the nativity of Jesus. 00:05:53
James was very amazed at how glorious and ordinated the blend. 00:05:58
After a while, Ken called James and the snowman to help him make a parol. 00:06:02
While every country decorates Christmas lights in their houses, 00:06:08
Filipinos use a parol to feel the essence of Christmas. 00:06:11
A parol usually comes in the shape of a big circle with a star in the middle. 00:06:15
It is made with different materials like wood, plastic, wire, or even recyclable materials. 00:06:20
After James hanged the parol, Ken's mom asked them to attend the simbang gabi, or night mass. 00:06:27
Filipinos attend mass at the wee hours of the morning for all nine days before Christmas. 00:06:34
Filipinos believe that when you complete the nine masses, you can make a wish and it all be granted. 00:06:40
After the Mass, James ate the most loved Christmas treats of Filipinos, the rice cakes. 00:06:46
James first picked the bibingka while the snowman ate the puto bumbong. 00:06:53
As they were eating, a group of children went up to them and started singing Christmas songs. 00:06:57
Ken laughed and told them that they are doing caroling. 00:07:03
After which, he gave them money and off they went. 00:07:07
At the house, people were busy preparing for the Noche Buena. 00:07:11
As most people eat their Christmas dinner on Christmas night, Filipinos often wake up at midnight to welcome Christmas Day with Noche Buena, a lavished feast of traditional Filipino Christmas dishes like lechon, queso de bola, jamon, spaghetti, and fruit salad. 00:07:14
To end the Christmas celebration, Ken gave presents to James and the Snowman, a common Filipino tradition that symbolizes the generosity of Filipinos. 00:07:33
Because of the warm welcome of Filipinos to James and the Snowman, they decided to stay in the Philippines for the New Year as well. 00:07:47
They met Mia and she invited them to their house to celebrate the New Year's Eve or Medianoche, Spanish word for midnight. 00:07:57
Mia asked James and the Snowman to wear polka dots because Filipinos believe it brings more money for the rest of the year. 00:08:08
Mia opens the door for them and leaves it open, as well as the windows, because they believe that open doors and windows in the new year invites good luck inside the house. 00:08:20
They entered the dining room and James and the Snowman were surprised. 00:08:33
because just a few days after Christmas it was once again a feast but this time 00:08:37
they saw 12 round shaped fruits such as watermelon oranges and grapes at the 00:08:43
center of the table Mia tells them it brings good luck they have a delicious 00:08:50
dinner with Mia's whole family and come midnight James and snowman were startled 00:08:55
a loud bang it was the firecrackers and fireworks outside they lit up loosies as well everyone was 00:09:02
making noises with their horns and music and chanting happy new year james joined the other 00:09:11
children jumping as high as they could as the clock strikes at 12 midnight it is a filipino 00:09:19
belief that doing this will make them grow taller throughout the years the night ended with lots of 00:09:25
hugs from the family and batirol and arroz caldo hot chocolate and rice porridge to keep their 00:09:31
stomachs warm it was a happy new year indeed at the end of the night james and the snowman 00:09:38
was so tired after all of their adventures they flew back to james's house he was sleepy 00:09:45
he said goodbye to the snowman and he went to bed the next morning he woke up and he was so 00:09:53
excited to see his snowman friend again. He ran down the stairs and he ran past his 00:10:44
mum and dad who were having breakfast. He went outside but he couldn't see his 00:10:52
snowman friend. Where had he gone? 00:11:04
I hope you all enjoyed the snowman video. Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year. 00:11:29
