UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Sarah Jessica Parker
00:00:02
attended the launch for New York's TAP Project.
00:00:05
The TAP Project asks diners to pay $1 for tap water
00:00:08
to benefit UNICEF's water and sanitation projects
00:00:12
on World Water Day.
00:00:15
Each TAP dollar collected will provide clean water
00:00:19
to 40 children.
00:00:22
I feel very comfortable in saying that I believe
00:00:24
that that is an extraordinary return on your investment.
00:00:26
There is no other organization in the world
00:00:30
that has saved more children's lives than UNICEF,
00:00:32
and I am proud to be a lifelong volunteer.
00:00:34
Basically, for those of us who have it,
00:00:51
it seems like nothing, but there are, as I understand it,
00:00:54
I think 6,000 children a day worldwide,
00:00:58
because of lack of access,
00:01:00
die from not having clean, safe drinking water.
00:01:02
What I know about UNICEF is that,
00:01:05
and what my mother taught me from a young age,
00:01:07
is that not only does UNICEF provide the water
00:01:09
for children in immediate danger,
00:01:13
but that it also establishes permanent sources.
00:01:14
It doesn't just give the community a quick band-aid,
00:01:18
but it really allows them to cultivate their own way
00:01:20
and safe way of living, and it's just amazing.
