Hi everyone! How are you? Have I ever mentioned the time when I went metal detecting with my 00:00:00
friend Paco? You'll never believe what happened to us. I'm sure you all know about or heard of 00:00:07
metal detecting. If I were to define metal detecting in just one sentence, that would be 00:00:14
the act of recovering a lost metal object using a metal detector. And you wouldn't believe what 00:00:20
people have lost and how much over years passed. Starting thousands of years ago, coins, jewellery, 00:00:27
relics and just about anything you can think of has been lost. These metal objects then sink 00:00:36
into the ground that they're dropped on and over time disappear. Anyway, my friend asked me to join 00:00:43
him for one of his outings. So I said to myself, why not, Pedro? My pal took me to this special 00:00:51
place in the countryside, where he knows there's a lot of stuff. He's recovered a lot of things 00:00:59
there. Well, it was a summer day, and even though we left early in the morning, it was very hot. 00:01:04
Then, right from the very beginning, his metal detector started to give a huge reading, 00:01:13
And the best thing was that my friend thought that we could be standing on a vast buried treasure. 00:01:20
So he decided to start digging with his pick and shovel. 00:01:29
After 30 minutes of very tiring digging, we hadn't found anything yet. 00:01:34
But he kept on saying, we need to find it today. 00:01:41
He said it over and over again. 00:01:45
And he wouldn't give up. 00:01:48
So we carried on trying to dig up his wonderful treasure. 00:01:50
That's what he thought. 00:01:55
And then, to top it all, we realized that we had forgotten the water at home. 00:01:57
We took no water with us. 00:02:02
Very silly. 00:02:05
Believe it or not, we dug a hole which was three and a half meters deep. 00:02:07
Anyway, to cut a long story short, 00:02:13
This is what finally happened after more than two hours of digging in the sunshine. 00:02:16
Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse and that we would find lots of gold coins, 00:02:23
I asked my friend about his boots. 00:02:30
What material are they made of? I said. 00:02:33
Why? He replied to me. 00:02:37
Why? 00:02:40
Because I think that your trusty metal detector is, in fact, picking up the signal from your steel-capped safety boots. 00:02:41
And that's what it was. 00:02:51
So, in the end, what happened was we didn't find anything at all. 00:02:52
Losers! 00:02:58
And, as you can guess, I'll never go metal detecting with my friend Paco again. 00:02:59
Bye-bye. 00:03:06
No, please. 00:03:09
I said, never ever again. 00:03:10
