Noam Calvache prepared a speech for his classmates to show the differences between both countries in relation to education and economy.
Today I am going to be talking about two different cultures, the Spanish one and the American one.
00:00:02
I am going to focus on two main points, the economy and the education.
00:00:11
But before that, I am going to start off by talking about how these countries were built.
00:00:19
The Spanish one, as you all might know, it was built by the search of power and money
00:00:28
of its leaders, involving Spain in many, many wars, but finally having the biggest and strongest
00:00:40
empire in the world at that moment.
00:00:50
In America, while other countries were already surfing the oceans, they were still a some
00:00:56
basic country.
00:01:06
They were really undeveloped and barely with no technology.
00:01:10
Now I'm going to discuss how this might affect the present situation, starting by the economy.
00:01:18
Like I said, America was a savage country, but somehow they have managed to become the
00:01:28
first world power with the strongest economy in the world, while Spain did it otherwise.
00:01:37
They became one of the weakest economies in Europe, being from one of the biggest and
00:01:51
strongest empires in Europe and in the world.
00:02:00
Many people refer to Spain like the ass of Europe.
00:02:07
Isn't that something to think about?
00:02:15
That is my question.
00:02:16
The next point, the education.
00:02:21
I'm going to explain some aspects of both education that I felt personally.
00:02:25
In the USA the classes are longer, which is good because you always have time at the end
00:02:34
to do homework and to ask questions to the teacher.
00:02:44
Also schools are bigger and with more technology.
00:02:51
Like every teacher has their own computer where they can save and keep track of grades
00:02:56
or themes or whatever.
00:03:03
And every teacher uses powerpoints, videos and things like that.
00:03:09
Also the school I went to in America, they have things like laboratories or weight rooms,
00:03:17
gyms, even tracks inside of the high school.
00:03:26
The one aspect that really shocked me was the relationship between education and sports.
00:03:33
really go together as athletes in high school if they don't do good in school
00:03:42
the coaches won't let them play in the game which is a really good motivation
00:03:48
for athletes to work harder on their grades seeing that they might not do if
00:03:55
they wouldn't have that push. While in Spain what I felt after my whole year
00:04:03
starting here is that they really try to squeeze the information into the students by using
00:04:13
very strict systems and very boring classes and things like uniform that really makes
00:04:25
students hates school.
00:04:32
With all of this, America has become a country that receives students from all over the world
00:04:40
to study abroad.
00:04:48
While in Spain people choose to study abroad to get a better education.
00:04:51
So is there something to think about?
00:04:59
That is my question.
