Hello, my name is Elena, and I'm in charge of the Pertibatal. 00:00:12
We have been through arguments, but we have some objections. 00:00:15
First, you mentioned personal freedom. 00:00:18
People are not free to do whatever they want and whenever they want. 00:00:20
Whether decisions taken in any level of way affect society is the government's role to act and do something about it. 00:00:25
So, I don't think you're right in that one. 00:00:34
Secondly, you talked about cultural gathering. 00:00:37
Not all cultures are good. For example, some cultures of Qatar, their main points are sexism or homophobia, and not everything that is a religion has to be good for society. 00:00:40
And finally, you said the usefulness of gambling. If we enable people to play, they will find a legal way to do it. 00:00:54
It is true, people are going to do it anyway, but eliminating a big percentage of online gambling is the best we can do. 00:01:02
We are not going to let the fact that it won't be a better solution as it will still affect the small fragment of the population. 00:01:09
It makes us forget that a majority will stop and will benefit from this decision. 00:01:17
Also, there are already a million illegal ways to online gamble, and it is nothing new. 00:01:23
So if people are already finding illegal ways to play, proof that the measurements you promote do more harm than good, they do not do their job. 00:01:28
And on the first event I've just mentioned that everything in the right amount is right. 00:01:38
But that's the point, it's not in the right amount. 00:01:43
And you can clearly see that people are not being responsible and the regulations aren't enough. 00:01:46
So the best decision is to ban online gambling. 00:01:52
Now, let me join you over arguments. 00:01:55
Firstly, it is very addictive. Online gambling has a net margin of almost 700 million euros. 00:01:58
This business has increased 20% every year since 2012. 00:02:03
and the number of players has increased 2028% since then. 00:02:06
While people bet online on online gambling, they don't realise the amount of money they are spending 00:02:11
because they are losing physical money leading to a business cycle with them betting more and more without realising. 00:02:17
Online gambling is also seen in sports with great users who are desperate for winning to manipulate bets making this addiction pretty serious. 00:02:23
Secondly, it's lack of security, and this graphic shows that the majority of people who gamble online are young, even minors. 00:02:34
This is that the main games minors play are online gamblers. 00:02:50
According to the Ministry of Health, 10% of young people between 14 and 18 bet online regularly. 00:03:01
This has been powered by the need of entertainment due to the confinement and mobility restrictions. 00:03:09
The amount of hackers, online tells and manipulation has increased significantly thanks to online gambling, 00:03:18
making it even less probable for people to win a prize, meaning the house always wins, and even more in online gambling. 00:03:23
For all these reasons, we insist that only government should be banned. 00:03:30
Thank you for your time. 00:03:34
