So, now we're going to look at changing an active sentence to a passive one. 00:00:00
Remember, in an active sentence, we begin with the subject, the person or the thing that is doing the action. 00:00:06
And in the passive, we begin the sentences with the object. 00:00:16
So, let's look at the first sentence. 00:00:22
I tidy my bedroom. 00:00:25
This is in present simple. 00:00:27
My bedroom is the object, so as it is singular, we use the verb to be, is. 00:00:28
And then I needs to change to the object pronoun, me. 00:00:38
So the passive sentence is, my bedroom is tidied by me. 00:00:44
In the second one, he tidied his bedroom is in the past. 00:00:51
So we use was and change the subject he to the object pronoun him. 00:00:55
Mary doesn't tidy her bedroom is in the negative in present simple. 00:01:04
So we use isn't and then change Mary to her in the passive. 00:01:10
Who tidied their bedrooms? 00:01:20
This is a question in the past. 00:01:22
so we use were 00:01:24
because their bedrooms is plural 00:01:27
and we end the sentence with by 00:01:30
because we want to know who did the action 00:01:33
now in the last one 00:01:38
when did you tidy your bedroom? 00:01:41
this is another question 00:01:45
it's in the past 00:01:46
so we need to use was 00:01:48
because the bedroom is singular 00:01:51
