Hello kids! What animals do you know? Could you name more than 50? I'm sure you can, but 00:00:01
would you be able to classify all of them? Let me help you and show me how much do you know 00:00:07
about animals. Animal kingdom is divided into two big groups, vertebrates and invertebrates. 00:00:13
Today we are going to learn about vertebrates. They are animals with an inner skeleton, 00:00:28
which means that they have bones and a backbone. Their body is divided into head, trunk, 00:00:33
limbs, and tail. Vertebrates are split into small groups, amphibians, reptiles, fish, birds, 00:00:41
and mammals. Can you see this frog? It's an example of amphibians. They can live on land 00:00:53
and in water, but how can they do that? They use lungs and bare skin to breathe on earth 00:01:02
and gills to breathe in water. Amphibians are oviparous, they lay eggs in water and the babies 00:01:09
are called tadpoles. They move using their four legs and they are called blooded animals. 00:01:17
Now let's move to reptiles. One of their main characteristics is that their skin is covered 00:01:26
with scales. They breathe through their lungs and, as the amphibians, they are oviparous 00:01:35
and cold-blooded animals. However, some of them slither and some others are aquatic. 00:01:41
The third group are fish. They can only live in water. They are aquatic animals, so they 00:01:52
breathe through their gills. Their body is covered with scales and they move using fins. 00:02:00
How do they reproduce? Through eggs. They are oviparous. 00:02:07
Birds make up another new group. Their bodies are covered with feathers. 00:02:14
They have a beak and wings, although not all of them can fly. 00:02:21
They are oviparous and warm-blooded animals. 00:02:28
And what about mammals? It's the group in which humans are included. 00:02:36
Most of them are covered with hair or fur to keep them warm. 00:02:45
Mammals use lungs to breathe. 00:02:52
They are born from their mums and drink their mother's milk. 00:02:57
Now, do you feel able to classify the vertebrates? 00:03:02
