hello guys once again and let me finish with chapter number seven 00:00:01
uh just to making making a little review about the forms that we were mentioning and then started 00:00:07
with the primary sector in spain i would like to do a sort presentation i don't know if it would be 00:00:18
possible because at the end I would like just to introduce the agricultural 00:00:25
landscapes landscapes landscapes of Spain so just to remind what we 00:00:30
mentioned yesterday we have three type of forms these three type of form where 00:00:39
the result of the history in our country normally from the Middle Ages because of 00:00:48
the different resettlement from north to south when the reconquest started then 00:00:54
we as a result of this period of time we have agriculture agricultural small 00:01:02
holdings in the north and in the archipelago mainly in Galicia Asturias 00:01:09
Cantabria and the Basque Country. These small holdings are less than 10 00:01:16
hectares. Then we have medium-sized farms normally located in the median of the 00:01:23
country in the two mesetas and finally we have latifundia, an important word 00:01:31
that you have to keep in mind as a result of the reconquest at the 00:01:38
end of the mural ages especially in casting la mancha estremadura and andalusia i will show you 00:01:43
a map right now about the the site or the main site that is located in each province for example 00:01:51
the latifundia the big ones grandes are located mainly more than the 50 percent of the of the 00:02:02
farms have more than 100 hectares in Huelva, in Guadalajara and in Soria. From 25 to 50 percent 00:02:11
of the farms are located in Burgos, Valencia, Madrid, Extremadura, the community of Aragon, 00:02:26
albacete almeria cadiz and seville and related for example to the small holdings 00:02:34
the big majority of them are located as we mentioned in the north in galicia asturias 00:02:44
cantabria and the past country but also we could find examples in in the valencia community in 00:02:50
tarragona or even in malaga so let's going to start with the topic that i wanted to introduce 00:03:01
today the primary sector in spain we will see agriculture the arable farming livestock 00:03:09
production fishing and forestry with forestry just to mention a couple of details related to 00:03:15
agriculture we have to mention the crops that are rainfed and the crops that are irrigated 00:03:23
the main important crop in the iberian peninsula with the rain rainfed technique 00:03:33
are the three basic mediterranean crops 00:03:42
a trilogia mediterranean we have wet in the two method mesetas in castilla la 00:03:45
mancha and Leon vines normally for for for wine in the Atlantic and 00:03:51
mediterranean regions and olive trees normally for oil because the production 00:04:00
of olives is not that does it doesn't have a lot of profit where we could find the big 00:04:08
majority of land dedicated to olive trees mainly in andalusia ciudad real badajoz and tarragona 00:04:16
also there are more crops related to rainforest crops such as nuts almond or walnut for example 00:04:26
also seeds such as sunflower but also purses such as lentils or peas or chickpeas then related to 00:04:36
the irrigated crops here we could include citrus palms and stone fruits stone fruits are the one 00:04:50
that have like a stone in the middle like the apricot the the prune plums the 00:05:00
peaches and so on then also we could find a lot of vegetables such as lettuce 00:05:13
pepper onion tomatoes and so on the main places where we could find this kind of 00:05:21
crops irrigated crops is in the mediterranean region where we could find a lot of green 00:05:28
houses a lot of invernaderos normally to obtain a lot of production to increase the productivity 00:05:36
irrigated crops require intense manual labor so because of that there are a lot of people 00:05:45
working in this sector in this primary sector in these crops in the in the mediterranean region 00:05:53
normally people from abroad spain because it's a hard work and normally is not well paid 00:06:02
so because of that people from morocco or from argyria or even from the europe from the east 00:06:11
of europe is the people that is coming to collect the crops then we have the livestock production 00:06:20
it's important because spain is the second most important country in the european union 00:06:28
in livestock farming and production normally with a combination between traditional techniques 00:06:34
and commercial techniques and it's important the increase of using technology or new advances is 00:06:42
for the production in this kind of farming in livestock farming several examples are for 00:06:52
example the cattle data for meat and milk Spain is the third country in the European Union in 00:07:00
cattle farming so mainly for meat and milk then we have sheep for meat and milk also but even 00:07:10
for bull then we have pigs for fresh consumption as meat but also on the production of cold 00:07:20
means meats and sausages ham chorizo and so on and finally the poetry for meat and eggs 00:07:31
poetry it's uh it's a highly industrialized sector in all the countries in the european 00:07:43
union and is highly highly technic with with a high technology production so it's a the 00:07:51
profit from this production from the from poetry is quite important but maybe the problem it's the 00:08:02
the way that the animals are taking care right now and it's the kind of images that maybe you 00:08:11
have seen on television or even on the street when you are walking with your family that people that 00:08:18
is telling off everybody about the situation of poetry in all the countries then related to fees 00:08:24
just to mention that spain is one of the biggest industry in the european union depend on the year 00:08:35
but spain is the second country with the most of the consumption in fishing so because of that 00:08:41
Fishing was an important way of feeding the population. 00:08:48
We have several places in the country where catches are collected and the main regions 00:08:55
in the Iberian Peninsula are five. 00:09:04
The first one is in the northwest, in Galicia, where Vigo is the most important port. 00:09:07
normally in Vigo, is where the distribution companies and the processing plants are located, 00:09:14
Vigo or the surroundings. 00:09:21
Then we have Cantabria, normally in Cantabria and in the Basque Country, 00:09:23
where, for example, we could find the ports of San Sebastian and Gijón. 00:09:28
The third one is the Mediterranean, that it also includes the Balearic Islands. 00:09:36
the South Atlantic that it it is made up of Cadiz and Huelva and the main ports are in 00:09:42
Cadiz Huelva and Algeciras were economically valuable species such as lobsters so maybe the 00:09:53
production is not that big but their catches are high valuable fishes or or any other sea 00:10:02
animal and finally we have the canary island las palmas and arrecife are the most important port 00:10:12
and normally they they use deep sea fishing near to the to the african coast related to the forestry 00:10:20
just to mention that it consists in the exploitation of pine eucalyptus 00:10:32
a chestnut or peach for example normally for boot or resin or even cork Spain is is the second 00:10:39
largest producer of cork in the world in in Spain it's it's a said about the 80% of the original 00:10:50
forest are totally destroyed and now we have approximately the 20% of the 00:11:03
original one and most of them every single year are suffering because of the 00:11:09
summer fires so we have a very big problem because it can destroy several 00:11:15
habitat but also it can affect the the absorption of carbon dioxide as we 00:11:26
mentioned the other day and it could implement the erosion that the soil is 00:11:36
going to be a road so it's a big problem nowadays finally just to introduce what 00:11:43
were what we are going to see in the last chapter just to point the agricultural landscape of spain 00:11:51
that if you remember you have to do one task related to this you have to make this map that 00:11:58
appear on your screen and you will have to do your own summarize where we could see there are five 00:12:06
agricultural landscape of spain the atlantic one the mediterranean the inland agricultural 00:12:13
landscape the mountainous agriculture landscape and the subtropical agriculture landscape 00:12:22
the first one the atlantic located in the north in galicia asturias cantabria and the 00:12:29
basque country even north of navarre it's mainly dedicated to livestock farming and forestry 00:12:36
The mountains, like the Cordillera Cantábrica, the Pyrenees, the Sistema Ibérico or the Sistema Central, normally dedicated also to livestock farming and forestry. 00:12:43
The inland landscape, the two mesetas, Aragón, even Catalonia, parts of Andalusia, and so on, normally to rain-fed crops, and mix of irrigation crops. 00:12:56
then we have the mediterranean landscape even with the balearic island normally for irrigated crops 00:13:15
fruits and vegetables and finally we have the subtropical agriculture in the canary island 00:13:26
normally for irrigated crops and in the inland of the island 00:13:34
rain fed crops so guys with this I'm going to finish for today I hope to 00:13:41
finish next day but just to mention different agriculture landscape because 00:13:48
if you are doing your task to probably known everything that I am going to 00:13:52
mention so I hope to finish tomorrow I will upload the chapter tomorrow I guess 00:13:58
and i'm gonna set you free to doing anything but if on 25 we have any new about this extraordinary 00:14:07
situation maybe i will have to tell you or to order you new tax and probably we will start with 00:14:17
the with the chapter number the chapter number the unit number four about mining energy and 00:14:24
construction so guys have fun see you soon I hope so 00:14:32
