Do you really think that there are races? It seems that we are all different, but in fact, according to biology, the term race only applies to the human race. 00:00:00
No matter what your skin color is or where you come from, the different race society was only created by the thought of supremacy. This has affected our society and must be changed. 00:00:10
According to the OHCHR, all countries must promote equality between all and mustn't discriminate against anybody. This idea is mentioned on the SDGs number 10 and 16. 00:00:21
No wonder why the 21st of March is known as the UNGA, as the International Day of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. 00:00:36
This may seem achieved. However, the reality is that plenty of work needs to be done. For example, in Spain there have been 40 cases of racism in the last 5 years. 00:00:47
Moreover, racism towards Asian people due to COVID-19 has led to feelings of anger, following the shooting to death of 6 women of Asian descent in Atlanta. Continuous hate like this has promoted the hashtag Stop Asian Hate. 00:00:57
The most concerning action of racism was the murder of George Floyd, who was shot to death by a white police officer, who argued that Floyd was having a violent behavior. 00:01:13
We would like to propose some solutions to this problem. First of all, we'd like younger generations to get involved in anti-racism movements through different music that can reach their culture. 00:01:26
If artists like Michael Jackson and Tupac hadn't shown their frustration against it, there wouldn't have been icons to follow in the anti-racist movement. 00:01:37
Therefore, if talks in history, biology and literature classes were made, students would understand the history and implications that racism has had, as well as the idea of the human race. If we teach younger generations, the future society will be better. 00:01:46
The proposal that we would like to make would be to highlight racial bias and provide training to avoid this. Also, the UN intervenes in racism cases and in the recognition of human rights to all races. 00:02:03
We would also like to have governments organize festivals and events related to different cultures, to make people see the variety of the cultures that coexist. 00:02:17
Also, if we have reached all the generations in the past, there would have been less racism today. For that reason, we'd prefer elderly people to have the opportunity to open their minds by offering them low-cost trips to other countries. 00:02:29
Taking this into account, we mustn't forget that personalities such as Oprah Winfrey or Ricky Martin have succeeded not by their skin color, but by their talent. It could be difficult to make people take a stand, but if there's a will, there's a way. 00:02:45
